Brentford boss Uwe Rosler has kicked off his summer acquisitions in impressive style with the permanent signings of both Harlee Dean and Adam Forshaw on two year deals.

20 year-old Dean performed excellently at the heart of the Bees defence following his arrival on loan from Southampton in November and played a total of 28 games whilst midfielder Forshaw, who recently earned the Everton “Reserve Player of the Year” award, was also impressive in his eight appearances for the Bees before seeing his loan spell from Everton cut short when he suffered a broken jaw in the home victory over Rochdale in March.

We welcome back both Harlee and Adam for what is already shaping up to be an exciting season ahead.

The Hounslow Chronicle has reported that Bees Boss Uwe Rosler is keen to bring Fulham wide man Bjorn Arne Riise to Griffin Park. The 28-year old Norwegian, brother of former Liverpool favourite John Arne Riise, has found his chances limited since arriving at Craven Cottage in 2009 and is set to leave when his contract expires in the summer. Rosler has managed Riise before, during his time at Lillestrom and although wages could prove to be a stumbling block, the Bees Boss will hope that their previous relationship may persuade the winger to make the switch to TW8.

YOU voted for it, from way back on that early August afternoon when the Glovers were dispatched at GP, to the entertaining 3-2 defeat of the Spireites.

And there was once again a clear winner. Congratulations to our very own midfield maestro and seventies throw back, Jonathan Douglas. This year's official Griffin Park Grapevine Player of the Season has achieved this prestigious accolade in only his first season with the Bees, playing in all bar 26 minutes of every League game this season, which is incredible quite frankly.

Jonathan joins the following list of previous winners:-

    2011 - Karleigh Osborne
    2010 - Kevin O'Connor
    2009 - Sam Wood
    2008 – Matt Heywood
    2007 – Jo Kuffour
    2006 – Jay Tabb
    2005 – Sam Sodje
    2004 – Jay Tabb
    2003 – Ibu Sonko
    2002 – Lloyd Owusu
    2001 – Gavin Mahon

Meanwhile, one player who will be staying with the Bees is French stopper Antoine Gounet who has agreed a new one-year deal after he was signed on a short term deal last season. The French keeper is thought to be highly rated by Bees Boss Uwe Rosler, but is yet to make a senior appearance for the Bees with stoppers Simon Moore and Richard Lee having both been in good form. However, Brentford fans will hope to see him given an opportunity in feature in pre-season.

In what was a busy day for squad news, Tuesday saw the departure of Bees trio Sam Wood, Marcus Bean and Karleigh Osborne as Bees Boss Uwe Rosler trimmed his squad.

25 year-old Woody enjoyed a hugely successful start to his Brentford career following a close-season move from Bromley in May 2008. In his first season in League football e made a total of 43 appearances for the Bees in their League 2 title winning season, scooping the Supporter’s Player of the Season Award along the way. The following season saw him make a further 48 appearances including a starring role in the Bees’ memorable Carling Cup clash with Birmingham City at St. Andrews.

Having made a further 27 appearances last season, Woody found his opportunities limited this year under Rosler and having appeared only eight times in a Bees shirt, he joined Rotherham on loan in November. Indeed his appearance at Notts County in Brentford’s 1-1 draw was to be his last for the Bees as his loan spell with the Millers was extended to the end of the season. With his contract now up, Rosler has decided that the versatile left sided player is not in his plans for the future.

Meanwhile, Midfielder Marcus Bean has also been told his contract will not be renewed, bringing an end to a four year stay in TW8. The popular tough tackling midfielder joined the Bees from Blackpool at the beginning of July 2008 and played a pivotal role in the Bees’ League 2 title winning season. He has continued to feature prominently for the Bees in the subsequent three seasons back in League 1, notching up 143 appearances in total during his Bees career. However despite making 37 appearances under Rosler this season, it appears Bean does not feature in Rosler’s plans for next year and his appearance against Sheffield Wednesday at Griffin Park in the Bees’ last home game of the season will be his last for the club.

The final departure of the day saw Karleigh Osborne leave the Club with the highly rated centre half having failed to agree a new Contract to remain with the Bees. Having progressed from the Bees’ Youth Set-up, Osborne endured a tough start to his Brentford career. However loan spells at Oxford and Eastbourne Borough brought about a huge improvement in form and having secured a regular place in the Bee’s starting line-up towards the end of the 2009/10 Season, Osborne went into the 2010/11 Season as a first choice centre half. He didn’t disappoint, making a total of 51 appearances and winning the GPG Man of the Match Trophy at a canter.

His impressive form drew interest from Charlton in the close season which was successfully rebuffed but amid further interest from Reading in the January Transfer Window, 24 year-old Osborne signalled that his future may lie away from Griffin Park with his refusal to sign a new Contract. Despite discussions continuing no agreement has been reached and Karleigh has departed for pastures new, having notched up over 150 appearances in a Bees shirt with his appearances against the Owls in Brenford’s final home game of the season being his last.

We thank all three players for their efforts during their time in TW8 and wish them well for the future.
