Group stage:
Hey Jude 1 1 Fulham
Hey Jude 1 0 Gillingham
Hey Jude 0 0 QPR ASB
Hey Jude qualify as group runners-up into the trophy proper, semi-final.
Hey Jude 1 1 Inter Gills
Inter Gills win 5-4 on pens. Take a bow Jonno the Bee...lol
I'll leave the details to some others, and I can't even be bothered to write down details for the second ASB game as none of us turned up.
An enjoyable day in lovely weather, the highlight of the day had to be the fantastic late goal scored in the dying seconds against Intergills by Jon which sparked highly emotional scenes and sent HJ into a penalty shoot out.
Well done hey jude,i left just before that game was played i should of hanged around lol you did pretty well expecially against qpr asb it was a bit 1 sided in that game

It was a really good day, bar my awful penalty.
We played our hearts out and fought to the very end of every game. The QPR and Gillsconnect games were full of fight and although at times we were under immense pressure our defence held strong and gave the strikers a chance to grab a goal.
In the Gillsconnect game everyone thought we were out and as the referee shouted 28 seconds we were all in the penalty area including Graham (much to the surprise of Supes!). It seemed to take an age for Jon Morris's shot to hit the back of the net as it bobbled a long and past the goalkeeper, and I have never seen such celebrations from Hey Jude players - it was fantastic! Then onto the penalties!! Graham, Paul H, Woody and Jon Morris had all scored their penalties, and so had the five penalty takers for Gillsconnect and I then had to score to keep us in it. After taking a pretty good penalty in the warm up, I was advised to put it in the same place, alas it went wrong! I went through it a bit to much and now Waddle is my nick name! I think it gave the Hey Jude lads quite a lot of joy having ago at me for the rest of the day, but getting to the Final would have been excellent - so sorry to everyone for my poor penalty.
All in all some very good performances from the team, to have knocked out probably the favourites for the tournament in ASB is not a bad achievement, and with a bit more luck and some better penalties we might have just been able to win the competition. Well done everyone.

Unlucky chaps and unlucky Jonno with the penalty (even if bearing in mind our scraps in the past, part of me wanted to have a giggle ;) ).
Hey Jude and Beesotted are turning into two half decent teams. Yesterdays event also helped Brentford FC as a whole make a lot of friends on the local football scene with the likes of Wimbledon, Gills, Foolham, QPHa etc.
Good effort by all. :)

Warm up penalty - hard and fast in the bottom left
Pressure penalty to keep us in the tornament - dead straight approximately 30 feet high. Extraordinary!
I think your nickname should be Jonno The Pen.
Also I think you are the only person in the history of penalty shoot-outs who responded to missing by giggling!!!!

It was a total mishit of all proportions. I won't tell you where I was aiming it but it certainly was meant to hit a 747 on the way to Gatwick  :D

What about Rob Quinn?! Well when you hit a penalty as badly as that one I think I had no option but to cry or laugh so I went for the laughing option.

I didn't know we had any scraps? But in that case then would it mean any Brentford supporter missing a penalty would of made you giggle?!
I'm just waiting for Woody and Cheeky/Northern Monkey to come on to start the real slating!!
Anyway can I just say thanks for the way everyone reacted to my miss, no one was at all rude or nasty to me even when I probably deserved it. For me the emphasised the great team spirit we had in that tournament, other than WorldNETs that was the best tournament I've played in, and that was mostly due to the spirit everyone showed.

I have total praise for anyone who steps up and takes a penalty. I am speaking from experience after missing four in a row. You feel like shit but at least you stepped up. I will gladly put myself forward for a penalty during WorldNet though. ;)
Why didn't Heston Bee take one?

A top day and a top effort from our team.
We were in a ridiculously hard group. We know how good ASB are and Fulham were also impressive to come through that was a minor miracle and shows how far we have progressed.
We were very unlucky to come unstuck in the semi final, I thought we had it once we equalised but they took some good penalties and it only took one miss for us to go out. In most circumstances one miss wouldn't have mattered but in thsi case it did, and it allowed us to take the piss out of Jonno for a while.
A few great monets. The equaliser againt Gilligham was site to behold. Everyone went crazy. I think we had 9 players in teh penalty area at that point and they were all in a pile on the touchline a few seconds later.
The other thing that sticks in my mind was the save from Graham with a few minute to go against ASB. Point blank range, one of the best saves I've ever seen, it deserved to take us through.
As I've said a good day and a good performance, encouraging to take through to WorldNet.

Totally agree. I was assigned to the Hey Jude pitch, and can concur that Hey Jude showed so much fight and character to come through the group as joint leaders, behind only on goal difference. Jim's opening goal was a sight to behold. ;)
You surely have got to progress well in Worldnet with those kind of performances! Good luck though.

Grahams save certainly was very good and saved me from feeling bad having let the guy through in the first place, although lets bnot forget Matts save from an earler game that helped us progress to the semis!!
Jonno thought you had got away with it?!!? What more can be said about 'that' miss, as i said on the day fair play for stepping up and having a go. And anyway who cares coz that last 30 seconds of the semi will live in the memory for a long time, from the moment that me and supes were discussing which of us should go forward until Graham jogged past us on his way to goal to the massive pile up on John after the ball finally went in. The only disapointing part was seeing two teams in the final who we had competed well against and not actually been beaten by until the pens and 'that' miss!
Big congratulations to all that organised or helped on the event (yes even you Jonno).
C u all at Worldnet!

Chris, I also admire his work but what does it have to do with Hey Jude?! *hic* :nono:  :D
Fair play to Jonno for stepping up to take the penalty...
I know how you feel, I missed one in a tournament in Holland for my Sunday team many moons ago....but I did hit the target! ;) Nevermind plenty of Pizza adverts to look forward to
