Gents: I have been notified of two broken windows at Boddington Hall. The damage for this totals £306 + vat

I was notified of one window being damaged, but not the other one.
I am holiday at the moment, in France, so communication is rather difficult, obviously I don't have my list of room numbers at Boddington to hand, but I will be able to resolve this when I get home.

If anyone would like to come clean, so we can discuss the payment for this damage, would you please email me.

If we are not able to resolve it, then I will be personally liable as our team's accommodation co-ordinator, and seeing as I am already £100 light from WorldNET - as a result of the late withdrawals that I was not able to sell on - I'm b*****ed if this going to be made worse.

I trust we can resolve this in a civilised manner.

I opened the deathtrap of a window when I first got into the room and it nearly decapitated me as it swung through 180 degrees. I didn't notice any damage but if it was mine, then I will pay for it.

The same happened to me (which I reported).

I don't think I damaged anything (as even though I was very pissed everything was okay when I got up in the morning!!)

Obviously those responsible should own up - presumably Boddington Hall will give you room numbers anyway?

If there is any doubt then I presume it will be coming out of everyone's subs??

I don't think it was yours Jim. I didn't notice any damage.

It is likely it was an accident but when we get the room number list we can see who it was.

That person will be responsible.

If anyone has damaged their room we need to know so we can sort it out.

I need to have a look at the accommodation list when I get home to see who's room it was, but I don't think it was Jim.
Interestingly, though a few people have commented that the windows were a bit difficult, so I am confident that it was nothing malicious and just a mishap.
Supes did tell me that he had just such an accidnt, but fro, what I can recall of the room numbers, it wasn't his either.

Wherever the blame lies, I can't get away from the fact that I am looking to be personally liable for £300+

An option in all this is that we have a civilised whipround among the whole squad;

I'm prepared to set the balling rolling with £15, anyone care to join me?

Errrmmm... confused....

1. whoever had the room should pay,
2. whatever happens you shouldn't pay
3. if the worst comes to the worst then either a whip round of all at worldnet or an increase in subs should pay, both of which I will put up with begrudgingly because it says that whoever did it didn't pay!

Yeh I totally agree with Shaggy, especially with point 2.

My window was a bit lively as well, but as far as I am aware there was no damage when I left.

As for the other money that Stedders has shelled out for as a result of late withdrawals, shouldn't that be coming out of the general fund? If there isn't enough money to cover that, then we should either increase future subs or have a whip round. It doesn't seem fair that the person who puts the most effort in and doesn't even play should pay the most!

If this is the place on the ring road in Leeds.

I used to live there. The windows are designed to kill.

All I am saying is that once we have discovered who had the room (and I won't know this for another week or so) we can't resolve who is responsible; if however there is a reluctance on behalf of the individual in question (for whatever reason) then perhaps a whipround, as there is not sufficient money in the existing kitty to meet the costs.

Maybe I should mind my own business having not been at WorldNET but from reading this it seems that all or if not all, most, of the windows were accidents waiting to happen and someone could have hurt themselves let alone cause damage. Maybe the place should have better windows if they don't want them damaged? If all I did was to try and open a window, a perfectly reasonable act (providing I was not pissed up) I wouldn't pay for any damage because it was dangerous/disfunctional...whatever.
Just an objective thought

sounds about right to me - if this was a genuine accident, it might be worth notifying Boddington that their windows are f###ing stupid??

I am sure any damage was indeed accidental.

I have corresponded wit the organisers on this very issue, using somewhat less colourful language you will be pleased to hear, unfortunately the attitude is that :o why is it our windows should be broken.

I am not in a particularly strong position on this and - as I have stated earlier - the ultimate responsibility lies with me. I sure know that my window wasn't broken, and I am sure you will agree that isn't fair either.

Like Dan and Ghost I wasn't there, but were all the Brentford teams in their own block? If so, then the 'dangerous' windows could be unique to that block thus two being broken was nothing to do with Brentford but that type of window, and could of happened to any team.

Also, University accomodation isn't usually that well maitained and they are always looking for breakages or damages made to accomodation, especially from external groups. Having had a bad experience with the way that they will get money from you if anything is seen to have been broken even if it might have been in that state previously. It might be that the windows were broken before you arrived, and you were allotted to these rooms and were the unlucky ones expected to meet the costs. The only way to get round this is to check your rooms fully when you get there and report it instantly - maybe a tip for next year.

The only way to get round it is to speak to Boddington Halls but ofcourse this could cause problems between their relationship with the IFA and ultimately Hey Judes with the IFA.

have we resolved this yet? Or at least got the room numbers?

Well done to both the Hey Jude & Beesotted guys, for playing in that shite weather, especially when you were nicely holed up in a pub watching the rugger buggers :roundofapplause:

Just a quick question... what sort of damages were caused in the ensuing Beesotted celebrations :suspect:

Animals! :nono:
