Just wondered what these bees greats  (What I remember of the eighties is a bit of a haze) were doing now.
Does anyone know?

Keith Cassells
Robbie Cooke
Some bloke we signed from the army
Roger Joseph and his brother (broke his leg - god my memorys going)
Some other geezer who done well in Scotland - a forward. (I'm crap at pub quiz competitions - was his name Alexander?)
Gary Phillips
Micky Droy
Terry Evans.

And what would be your team of the eighties?

Rowan Alexander.

My favourite was Richie Caddette, took loads of knocks but always shook them off and wriggled his socks off for the Bees. Now managing Tooting and Mitcham with Keith Jones as his sidekick.

Good luck to the pair of them.

I remember Richard (Its in the back of the net) Caddette.

Agreed that he was a good player. Got the vids with him scoring against Blackburn and Fulham. Classics!

think we signed 2 from the army: George Torrance, and a striker called Steve (?) Butler. Butler played on for some time around the lower divisions after he left us, but don't remember hearing anything of Torrance afterwards.

We had some decent midfielders in the 80s: Hurlock, Sinton, Kamara, Jones and for a while excellent forwards in Francis Joseph, Tony Mahoney and Gary Roberts, but the first 2 of them were badly hit by injuries.

Butler went to Cambridge, if my memory serves me right

I saw Butler on Football Focus last season. He is - or was - still playing, the age of about 40, for the reformed Maidstone United in the Kent League.

I believe that Butler was assistant manager at Gillinham for a while and i think he followed Peter Taylor to Leicester in the same capacity.

Believe Rowan Alexander is up here, manager of Gretna I think, tried to sign Deanno and his brother .

Seems that Robbie Cooke is/was chief scout at Everton according to a Google search. I have to assume it's the same one as the article I found describes him as "a former lower league striker".

Francis Joseph is manager or coach at somewhere like Edgeware Town and his brother Roger plays for AFC Wimbledon.

Or rather, Roger would like to be playing for AFCW. He appears not to be quite up to their standard these days, or at least is not match fit enough, and has been farmed out to Leatherhead with a view to working his way into the Dons plans. (Which is a bizarre arrangement since Leatherhead are nominally the senior of the teams.)

Stanislaus (tyson) went to Bury afterwards didn't he? Never understood that move.
Does anyone remember Paul Birch. We paid about twenty grand for him from portsmouth and he buggered off after two games (quit the game I think).
Where is Smillie now?

Paul Birch played a blinder against Fulham after Blisset had been sent off when fatty Stannard went down quicker than a whores draws.

Paul Birch had a cracking game down at Bristol City as well , he and Blisset ripped their defence apart and we were 3-0 up in about 30 minutes. It was p*ssing down and the away end had no cover, so my father and i were sitting in amongst the city fans. By the time the third goal went in they were baying for blood  As the goals went in we made do with a ;) Anyway we won 3-2 in the end. Birch looked really useful in the couple of games i saw him in and then he just packed it in.

When I moved to Northampton approx 14 years ago, I trained with a local team called ON Chennocks ( decent level nothing outstanding). I got in the 2nd team and played a floodlit friendly versus the 1st team. Low and behold the penny dropped Paul Birch was playing up front in this 1st team for a small weekly fee!!!
I had a chat with him in the bar afterwards and tried not to be too starry eyed about the Fulham ( it had stuck in his mind also) game but basically his knee ( I think) couldn't cope with prof football anymore. He didn't play too many games for ON's and nor did I !!!! Decent lad, thought he was going to a good'un for us.

Last I heard he was at Wycombe coaching the youth team. Saw him at Staines earlier in the season as his son now plays for Staines Town.
