Anyone remember which season we switched from 3.15 kick offs to 3.00? It was certainly after about '74 cos I used to get up from school in Sussex in time for ko until about then.

Also - we used to have 7.30 k.o.s in the evening I think. Anyone remember when that changed to 7.45?

3.15 kick-offs used to make sense when the pubs closed at 3; have stopped my pre-match drinking as leaving would now require willpower. I don't think the new licensing laws were the reason for our 3pm kick-offs, it was probably the pools companies wanting all results in around the same time.

On the same basis 7.30pm kick-off and 10 minute half-time used to leave more drinking time afterwards.

As i recall, wasn't it a 3.15 kick off every Saturday on the Royal Oak?

The 3.15 kick Off was used so that the workers at Brentford Gas Works could attend the game. Thier shift on a Saturday finished at 3.00

After Hillsborough, all Saturday matches should have moved to start at 3.06pm, so that this disaster would never be forgotten.

Of course that would have made life uncomfortable for the murderers, Yorkshire OB.
