As posters on here may or may not have seen from my threads about Italian football fans, I'm very interested in the Italian ultra scene. The following idea is 'borrowed' from them. In recent seasons Italian clubs have 'retired' the number 12 shirt from their respective squads in honour of the '12th man on the field' the fans.
This is usually done free by the club as a gesture to their fans, but as we need the money maybe we can buy the number 12 shirt from the club?
I don't know how practical it is for Brentford to retire the number 12 shirt and obviously this can't be done during the current season. Maybe the shirt can be retired in time for next season, provided we have raised a suitable amount?
This could also be good PR for the club and fans, Aberdeen are the only club that I know of in the UK that have retired their no 12 shirt to the fans, not as a fund raising idea of course.
What do you think?
