I reckon 1997-8 takes some beating

1993-94
The only 'exciting thing' was wondering if Ian Benjamin was gonna score.

I actually thought Benjamin and Westley along with the goals of Mundee were a major reason for us staying up that season. He was not very entertaining to watch though. We had a decent run for a while though in the middle of the season. But a real anticlimax after nearly staying in Division 1.

I class boring as nothing to play for, which kind of rules out 97/98.
It would be 99/00 for me.

Totally agree with 99/00, I got a season ticket and we went 6 games without scoring

Benjamin? Are you kidding he only scored twice! Joe Allon got 17 in about 25 games to keep us up

have to say 99-00 very dull
this current season will be anything but boring. you can't predict any result for us, or anyone else now... but it's very frustrating not being able to have a bit of form - or at least an idea of it!

Wasn't this the season where around Jan/Feb and with nothing to play for, Uncle Ron decided to mess with the side to make it even less effectual?

More of a dreadfully poor season than boring. Couple of cracking games that season though, didn't we narrowly lose 3-2 at home to Watford that year - they got promoted (as champs?).
I think we had more shots on goal in that game during the rest of the season.

I'd agree with 99/00, I think that was the season where Evo scored from the half way line, that was about it!

Yep, we announced our season was over and played lots of nothing games.
And proceeded to win none of them.

Yeah, we lost 2-1, we battered them and lost to their only 2 shots of the game.

The mid 80's seasons with Frank McLintock in charge were pretty dire, poor crowds, boring football, no decent cup runs - especially 85- 86. Thankfully he quit the following season and Perryman was like a breath of fresh air.
Does anybody remember the woeful performance at Port Vale just before the jock left? One of the worst performances ever by a Bees team IMHO

Yes! - I agree - one of our worst ever performances, and one of our worst ever managers. The good news if I remember correctly, was that he was sacked the next day, so it also brings back happy memories.
I can't remember the exact seasons, but the most boring period supporting the Bees, was when Mike Everitt (an even worse manager than Mcklintock) was in charge, back in the early/mid 70's.

I remember it vividly. It was a miserable 4-1 defeat which, incidentally, saw Paul Mersons league debut.
Being ludicrously overcautious in my journey planning I arrived at Vale Park about 3 hours before kick off and sitting aimlessly outside the ground fell into conversation with a Vale 'fan', roundly criticising their leading scorer, somebody or other Jones. It was only when the teams ran out that I realised he was the 'fan'......

1999-2000 an awful season, but first couple of months were great and I, stupidly, felt we were going somewhere again. Shame we had a poor manager at the time.
