I just found a programme from 2 September 1964, Bees vs. Southend, League Cup 1st round. (Programme 6d, no fixtures list, pretty pathetic all round). But there's the very same Peter Gelson at No. 5 = what a rock!
Here's the line-up:
Chic Brodie
Allan Jones
George Thomson
Mel Scott
Peter Gelson
Tommy Higginson
Mark Lazarus
Jimmy Bloomfield
Joe Bonson
Dai Ward
John Fielding
Anyone remember Joe Bonson? A definite tryer but really limited from what I remember.
Jones and Thomson were 2 of the best fullbacks we ever had IMHO.

Any line-up with Chic, Pete and Tommy in it would be close to making my all-time top XI. God willing Tommy will be back for the 100 years celebrations. It was a real pleasure to meet him at the Cult Bees and legends launch. Perhaps some of our other 1960's heroes will be there too.

Joe Bonson was a great character but totally useless - somehow manged to score a few goals. I think we signed him from Newport County. He stayed a couple of seasons (lost his place to Ian Lawther) and then moved on to Lincoln City followed by Billy Cobb.
In 64/65 we finished 5th in th old Div 3 after leading the table several times in the season. Hull City (Chris Chilton and Ken Wagstaff - a lethal twin strike force) and Carlisle Utd were promoted to Div 2 and Carlisle went on to to briefly top Div 1 in the days before the Premiershite.
