View Full Version : Keyboard freezing.

My laptop is about 8 months old and has Windows XP as its operating system. One persistent problem I have is that I could be typing out a thread like this one but all of a sudden despite pressing the keys nothing types on the screen....it's like the whole keyboard freezes and the only thing that works is the mouse. To solve the problem I have to log off and reboot. The keyboard always freezes when I'm typing loads of text quite quickly such as posting on the GPG or using Instant Messenger on MSN.

Does anyone have ideas as to what is going on and how I might solve this?

Many thanks!

Take a look at the Keyboard troubleshooter in 'Control Panel' 'Keyboards'. The keyboard driver could have become corrupted, but unlikely if it only freezes now and then.

Try bunging it in the microwave for a bit - that should thaw it out :D

Linux is the silver bullet to all the problems. Provided you're not a jub of course ;)
