MAGIC, TIME TRAVEL AND FOOTBALL...

Cult author Robert Rankin`s new book will be launched at Stripes Bar on Friday 6th August.

The book is called "Knees Up Mother Earth" - the 7th novel in the increasingly legendary BRENTFORD TRILOGY.

Robert is the UK`s second highest selling writer of comic fantasy, putting him squarely in the ranks of Terry Pratchett, Rob Grant & Doulas Adams. His cult best-seller "The Brentford Trilogy" has over 1,000,000 copies in print.

Robert is an unrepentant Luddite who writes his best selling books in exercise books :)

"There`s big trouble in little Brentford. Property developers are planning to destroy the borough`s beloved football ground and build executive homes on the site. Shock! Outrage! Horror! Something must be done to halt this iconoclasm.
The lads of the Flying Swan, Brentford`s most celebrated drinking house, take up the challenge.
In this, the first ever "Book of Brentford" which is also the second book in "The Witches Of Chiswick" trilogy, the Father of Far Fetched Fiction spins an epic yarn which will no doubt become a modern day classic".

As well as the book being launched, there will be an array of bands appearing (details to follow), including a short set by RR himself - which if half as good as his previous performance at a packed Stripes - will be memorable in itself

Should be a cracking night and a good fundraiser - further details re tickets/bands ASAP

Ignore the bit re memberships for the weekend; this wont apply to peeps who want to attend solely the Stripes bash.

BTW Soliluquoy are definitely appearing - awesome Metal band all the way from Derby

The `Rock Gods` also superb, with RR an absolute natural - could have been a rock star if he wasn`t an author....

This should be a BIG night; tickets info soon
