Anyone remember that big mud bank at Wigan with the little bit of terracing at the top and bottom. Was up there a few times in the early eighties and remember that guy who use to bring his dog on the train with us , the big German Shepherd. When asked by the ticket collector whether he had a ticket for the dog, he use to tell the guy to ask the dog.

Show's you how long I've been away for. Bernie was a top man who made me laugh alot as a twenty year old. Four cans of special brew between Kings X and Wigan and I was away with the faries. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't his dog called Sarge.

Can't remember ever winning there either. The train travel was always fun though. Peter G use to book the train seats and it was usely only one, maybe two carriages. Remember going down to Plymouth for a mid-week cup game, think it was the milk cup and Terry Hurlock scored a peach from the edge of the box. Bob Booker and some of the other players stood on the terraces with us. Thrashing Exeter away 1-6 was another classic. Cassell's, Joseph & Camara got all the goals.

Best memory of Wigans old ground was me and a mate got so fecked off with the rain and cold and we were probably losing so we went and sat on the coach which was INSIDE the ground to the right side of the grass bank and had a game of cards with two coppers who got on to get out the cold as well.

Bernie Watson and his dog were always so funny. Totaly refusing to take his dog out of the away end at I think it was Burnley years ago had hundreds of Bees rolling about and a few northern stewards and fuzz completely baffled.

'You cant have a fully grown German Shepard on the away terrace'

'Why?'

'You just cant'

'Piss off!'

Rudolph remembers at Anfield in the second leg of the league cup on a Tuesday night, Bernie and Sarge were put into a section of their own between Bees and Scousers. At half time Bernie had one of the two coppers around him hold Sarges lead while he went for a wee. Bernie came back with two burgers, the coppers face lit up when he saw this, his face turned sour when Bernie handed one of the burgers to the dog!

Rudolph's funniest memory of Springfield Park was in the club bar. Another evening game and Rudolph drove up with Middlesborough Andy and a couple of others, we met Mick Pettifer in the club. Mick went behind the stage they had at one end and found an old microphone, switched it on and in his best northern voice read out the bingo numbers in Mick's own way. A doorman was on his way to stop him only to be told by the barman to leave him as it was so entertaining. The look on the locals faces was a picture.
