apart from King George VI at Kempton for Wibs and maybe the Welsh National, i'll be off betting til the NY (probably)....
so save up that Xmas money for some seriously good e/w doubles in the NY...
had one today but missed the first at Lingfield 1.00 (won at 3/1) so the relief i felt when the second part only finished 3rd at Ludlow (1.40)

King George VI Chase
the word on the street is (was) Calling Brave and Lord Sam as e/w shots, however the 12/1 and 18/1 has now gone, so i will reassess this later on..

Another interesting contender is Calling Brave, who won his three completed starts last season before unseating when in contention in the Royal & SunAlliance Chase.
Trainer Nicky Henderson said: "He is the third favourite and we would be bitterly disappointed if he was not in the top three."

Personally I've done an each way double on the two Pipe/Johnson/Murphy horses Control Man (5/1) and Therealbandit (8/1). Most of the favoured horses in the King George are doubtful stayers, there seems to be a myth that non stayers can win the race but if you look at the last 10 years 6 had won over the distance and 2 of those who hadn't won over the distance were those two highly dodgy stayers Best Mate & First Gold. If you look for a horse aged between 7 & 9 who has won over 3 miles history says you have a decent chance of finding the winner :sorted:
