I am overweight.

There, didn't hurt.
I went to the doctors recently and it appears that I am approaching 17 stone  (as you can probably tell, I don't take too much notice of such things).
Clearly, this cannnot continue as I reckon my optimum weight should be around 12 stone; so that's me a mere 5 stone overweight.

Problem is I am the world's worst dieter, absolutely hopeless. The only way I am going to successfully lose weight is by "outing" myself in such a way and the peer pressure from fellow Bees.

So, I am going on a sponsored diet, with all funds going towards Bees United.

I have already had one very kind offer of sponsorship from Shaggy who is sponsoring me £1 per lb and if (it's a big if) I manage to lose the 5 stone (ie: 70lbs = £70) he will then add another £30 to make it £100.

So, would anyone else like to join Shaggy in sponsoring me? Think about it, this will be good for my health (and that will make all your lives brighter, eh? rofl and it will be good for Brentford FC.

I would have thought that sponsorship would need to be for a minimum of 10p per lb, which would mean a minimum of £7 total, when I reach my target.
Payment will not be due until I have reached my target 12 stone.

Please email me; PM me; or post any sponsorship; dieting tips on this thread.

I will get someone neutral to weigh me and post my weight on the GPG when I start the diet and will post regular updates on my progress.

My intention is to lose 5 stone (ie: 70lbs) over the course of 12 months (which equates to around 1.5lbs per week)

I stayed of the beer for a week and lost nothing. Went out on the Saturday and had a pizza washed down with 5 pints of stella and lost 2lbs.

This year I have had tonsilitis three times and as a result have lost a stone.

Catch tonsilitis and drink stella - great diet tip ;)

Stedders, if you get down to 13 stone, I will part with £60, as getting down from 13 to 12 stone is the hardest part.

I suggest that you eat more healthily and do alot more aerobic exercises to lose weight, but keep you healthy. Yo ucould fast track it by doing something like the Atkins, but you will suffer for it later.

If you can get in touch with Gibbo, he can help you with your fitness and weight loss, or I'm sure the club will give you some tips too.

Paul I will sponsor you 10 pounds per stone lost. I would recommend Weight Watchers - it's easy once you get the hang of it and at least you can still drink  as long as you count the points! I lost 11/2 stone and my other half lost 2 stone 4lbs (he had more to lose!). We've both kept the weight off for about a year now and feel so much better for it. Go for it and Good Luck.

Thanks, Stedders!

My wife read your thread over my shoulder and said '17 stone, gosh! How much do you weigh?'

I managed to steer her away by telling her not as much as that, but not giving the correct figure.

Anyway, she told me I must sponsor you (with my money) so put me down for £20 for 4 stone and an extra tenner for that final difficult stone.

You must remind me, though, as I am hopeless about remembering debts!!

Seems bad to jump on the bandwagon, but this actually sounds like something I could do to lose weight. I need to lose 3 stone at least, and some reason to do it as I have no willpower at all.

Could do a Brentford Fit Club :D

Oh yeah and I'll sponsor you a pound for every stone you lose, that's a fiver that way and another fiver if you make it to 12 stone. Tenner in all.

I was thinking of sponsered 'do as your told' for my wife and son, but I can't see it raising more than 10p. :D

This post is official confirmation that at 11:42am on the 06th June 2004, Paul STEDDERS weighed in at 17stone and 5llbs.

It was not a pretty sight and I told him to keep his clothes on to be weighed, but he wanted to be as light as possible.

£20 if you do it Paul.

Great fundraising idea - give us a call or PM if you are up for doing a story in the local rag about it.
