Can any old Bees give me any details about Jeff Taylor, who played for us in the mid-50s?
Very little about him in the 100 years book.

I had forgotton our Jeff :( a good tidy inside forward not a great goalscorer but made many, would never be in my all time best but a good professional.
No doubt there is a reference to him singing, which the papers always went on about and he either made a record or was always going to, someone with a better memory might remind me. or was he in a trio wouldnt suit today he was what is/was known as a crooner
ah those were the days

Cheers. Any more for any more?
I have been given a signed photo of Jeff from 1955 and wanted to find out his career details.
All I can find out about him in the 100 Years book is that after a few years with the Bees he left to become an opera singer! Anyone remember this?

I certainly remember that he retired to pursue his singing career but do not think it was Opera

He quit football to become a full-time singer with the Black and White Minstrels, which was a regular show on BBC in those days. He went into opera when the show ended.
A good forward who regularly hit the net.

signed from Fulham, if memory proves correct, and about the same time as Bernie Newcombe.
class inside forward but not a prolific goalscorer.
a sad day when he retired but it opened the door for the Johnny Rainford, George Francis, Jim Towers trio to come to prominence.

Remember Jeff well, centre forward as I recall, and was at one time our leading goal scorer, popular with the fans. Recall one home game when I was standing at the Ealing Road end and J  eff had a chance to score, but kicked it over the bar, one wag in the crowd shouted 'whats the matter Taylor do you want to score them all' Jeff just smiled and turned away.

Just done a google search and looked at some Black and White Minstrel websites, seems it was quite a controversial show!
Unfortunately no mentions of Jeff though :(
According to the signed photo he wrote a regular column for the Daily Star. Anyone remember this?

Without any doubt, he was a member of the B and WM show - I used to make a point of spotting him under all the make-up! I'll do some digging myself and let you know if I get anything.
