for this classic 7(SEVEN!)-1 annihilation?? :sorted:
it also included the infamous 'non-goal' of cassels (i think) hitting it through a hole in the side netting into the goal and the ref giving it lol lol
ended with exeters 'chaps' coming on the pitch (which bees fans thought was an invitation for a 'discussion of sorts' :D ) to demonstrate against their manager for such a shocking display
you just had to be there
the train home was obviously very   :bound: :p

Unfortunately was too young at he time to be attending away games. But remeber the resyult coming up on the vidiprinter on Grandstand and they typed the score in letters as well as numbers!!! Exeter 1 Brentford 7 (seven)
Always looks fantastic when they have to type the number of goals you score!

I was there - and extremely drunk as were the vast majority of Bees fans - a but like they about the sixties - if you have clear memory of it then you didn't enjoy it!

Yes I was also there and the ironic thing is that I now live next door but one to the then Exeter manager Brian Godfrey in sunny Pafos Cyprus.
Do I love giving him some stick over that, also Lenny Bond was in goal for City and David Crown was on the wing.
That will teach them for leaving the super Bees.

We were there, I drove down in my shiny red mk4 cortina lol with 2 other bees and 2 of our mates from caister who lived in sunny plymouth,to say we had agreat "trip" would be an understatement as we had plenty of supplies organized lol .
It was more of a w/end to us with our 1st experience of the infamous 'union street' to come, but what a day I clearly remember the cassels goal even from the other end I seem to remember thinking straight away that his shot had burst the net.
A great bees turnout as usual with more fans pissed up than not and the exeter fans getting really brave at the end.
But 4 those of you not familiar with "union street" heres an intro, its the main street in plymouth 4 a nite out with at least a dozen clubs and numerous bars. The 1st thing that hit us was the mp's patroling with sidearms but in the state we were in it just meant something else to giggle about, but **** me the 1st club we went in opened our eyes to the reality of it all.
My mate mick went to the bar and within seconds it had gone off all round us, it was like a scene from a wild west saloon, tables, chairs, glasses, bottles.bodies all flying through the air around us! And out of the middle of it all mick slowly appeared gingerly stepping his way to us with our beers and he hadn't spilt a drop!
Now we sussed it better late than never we'ed stumbled on a night out for the whole ****in royal navy :box: :sneakoff:
Needless to say we moved on pretty quick and compared with that 1st club had a relatively quite evening but nothing will erase the memory of a famous victory for the bees and a mental w/end in plymouth to top it all off!

Yes, I was !.
Is it really 20+ years since this happened !!!!.
Thing's I can recall.........
Worth getting soaking wet on the way to the ground.
Counting 98,99,100 (Exeter had conceded over 100 goals that season)
Exeter fans wondering why on earth we were jumping up and down......because Leicester had scored against F**ham.
Didn't Lenny Bond get carried off part way through the game with concusion ??

I was there. As a student at Exeter Uni, I was a regular in the Cowshed, but for that game I transferred my loyalties to Brentford (of course) and stood in an unusually full away end. The reception I got from my Grecian supporting mates in the pub afterwards was rather chilly, but I had a big broad smile on my face! :)

Lenny Bond got carried off at a home game with Exeter one night and the Royal Oak chanted his name as they carried him away on the stretcher.

Hope this thread doesn't go on to long as it will sound like the Pistols gig at the 100 club!!!
Went down on train with the mad Irishman (jed) and all the other boys that we used to travel with.(Bill, Bones, John M. etc) Sat in the seats that day due to the inclement weather conditions. I've still got some photo's I took that day that I'll try and dig out.

Went down on the Tuesday before. P*ssed up all over south east devon leading up to the match. Nearly got a tattoo but my bottle went. In my cousin's pub, the 'Red Cow', the night before and introduced myself as Frances Joseph and my friend as Terry Rowe (we are both white) to his mates.
Later that week one of the reguars said to my cousin what a good game we must have had despite being paraletic the night before.
Chant of the day 'David Crown, going down, going down'
Loved it.
