Go to start > Programs > Startup and make sure there is nothing dodgy in there, if there is it will auto-start. Also look in your systray (where the clock is) to see if it's there.
Try going through control panel > add/remove programs to see if you can uninstall it from there.
Once you have stooped it autostarting and uninstalled it you should be able to run the spyware checker and get rid of the tracking cookies etc.

Also if you're on XP do Start->Run & then type in msconfig - this gives you access to all programs that are auto-run at startup without having to delve into the registry...

Sounds something similar to when cool web search take over your broswer. Search on Google for a cool web search browser hijack remover. I used it to take something similar off of a friends PC a couple of months ago. Might be worth having a go!

thanks guys, cool search is exactly what it is,I'll give it a go ,ta !
Do you have Adaware and SpyBot? If you search for those two programs in Google and install them they should help you to find any problems on your PC easily and remove them.
