I miss the home team coming out by itself......one sure way to get the crowd fired up and in the mood from the off. I curse the people in charge that made the decision that both teams should enter the pitch at the same time.

I miss the theme tunes of the 70's which were played to herald the team onto the pitch with "Hi Ho Hi Ho it's off to work we go" one of my favourites...I was 10 at the time! I also remember the team coming out to "Ooma Paluma Blanca" or something like that.

I miss the wooden rattles :( And I even miss the guy in Ealing Road that used to ring the handbell in the 70's....and no he wasn't a visiting Portsmouth fan!

From the last season, I miss Bryan Adams "We're Gonna Win" being played.

I miss the Half time Tickets stubs to go to the Pub on one of the corners for a beer and flock back into the ground for the second half.

Peanut seller on the Royal Oak.

The old boy who used to sell the Golden Goal tickets on the Breamar Rd forecourt. I can still hear his cries of " Golden Goal, the first one in ! "

And after the match, queing up to buy train tickets at the little window by Stripes for the next weeks away game.

Being able to move from one end to the other at half-time so you were always behind the goal Brentford were attacking (sometimes meant a rush just before kickoff when you realised which way we were playing)

I miss the Royal Oak, Just think, just under the entire capacity of our ground at present would fit into that end. When Brentford kicked towards that end in the second half, half of the New Road would change stands to really pack it out.

I miss the old "Castle" badge, the pass outs at half time and as mentioned above, queueing up outside the Centre Circle (now Stripes) for train tickets to the next away game.

I miss the derbies with Watford, they were anticipated weeks in advance, I can recall the Oak even now singing "There's only four weeks til Watford, four weeks, til Watford" before going into a fifteen minute set of anti Watford songs.

I miss singing the songs that you can only sing standing up, the simple but effective chant of "Ber-Rent-Ford" followed be claping your hands three times above your head, "knees up mother Brown", the crowd surges, buying a pint from the Garden Shed which used to be where the Brook Road murial is now whilst still be able to watch the game.

I miss the silk scarves that would be tied around our wrists or worn as ties

Playing foolham. April 26th 1992 will always be a highlight. I still have my £5 ticket for the New Road at home. The memories of walking down fulham palace road singing bees songs and selling out the away end.

Also in a wierd way... the old den. Now you knew you were at an away ground there!

Ridiculous stuff like fans running to the centre circle before games to tie balloons in their teams colours to it , does anyone else remember this?
Agree about the old Royal Oak I remember taking a football to the game against bristol Rovers once and kicking it about on that terrace during the game (yes it was that awful). Even now I can recall that fantastic set of steps up to the terrace which to my childhood eyes were magical as were Micky Block and Mark Lazarus.
Also miss standing on the New Road wooden terrace and watching the guy who came every home game simply to abuse the linesman from a position right at the front. He would give him huge abuse whilst running along with him - mad but wonderful.
What about Football League Review free in every programme?
Writing this has made me come over all sentimental and remind me that Englands millionaire footballing failures are but nought when matched against the very special bit of my life and heart that is Brentford which is essential to my very being.
