the unforgettable 4-4 draw at their place in 82???

came out of the station and it was only 2p to get a bus to the ground(and enough change from 10p to get a bag of chips no doubt lol )......bees had loads there and the open away end was rocking.
bees were 4-1 down in the 2nd half(and a player sent off) and we were missing some our fans also who'd been carried out kicking and screaming("cheepskin, cheepskin...hang im, hang im, hang im" - you know who you are ;) :sorted: ) after a ruckus with some yorkshire chappies in our end, Brentford staged a comeback which will never be forgotten with Booker getting the equaliser (i think!) near the end..........pitch invasion, coppers helmets flying though the air and bees players celebrating like theyd one the world cup..........great stuff :)

the 'special' bus back to the station was an experience in itself  rofl

unlucky for the few who braved the walk through the arndale centre back to the station.........not the most pleasant of strolls in those days(and probably thesedays lol )

i look forward to the return game there on March 12th :)

I rember "Lottery" being warned for swearing and the replacing all of the offensive words with "non offensive" equivelents and still being chucked out.

The Arndale Centre was hairy though

Anyone remember the year when there was bad fog in the second half.

We were winning 1-0 and the fog came down and you could not see past the half way line. All the Bees fans were worrying in case the game got abandoned.

The ref continued the whole 90 mins despite protests from the home fans.

I remember that Brian Deane was playing for them before he played in the top flight

I also remember having a shopping trolley being hurled across the road out the back of the Arndale in about '86.

Remember it vividly. It was one one my first away games and we were in the cage which was the away end at that time. We couldn't see past the edge of our own box from behind the goal and every now and then that ball and a couple of players would appear and disappear again. I've no idea why it was never abandoned.

Rudolph was there for the 4-4. Mr Lottery was arrested by about five coppers in the end. he took his jumper off and started singing "I'm f***ing cold" to the tune of Never Walk Alone. There was a copper on the corner of the pitch pointing a stick at anyone he didn't like and that was their lot, they were out.

They did a collection at half time by holding a stretcher up and all the mentals waited until it went past the coppers gathered in the corner and then pelted them with coins!

BTW it was Francis Joseph sent off, another reason why Mr Lottery got on the wrong side of the law, he called the ref a racist and was told to shut up! 4-1 down, about twenty minutes to go and a striker short, and Brentford could have won it in the last minute - twice!

I remember this game. Think it was a Friday night game, cos there was a meeting at the Doncaster racecourse during the day.
Brilliant weekend. Horses during the day and Footy in the evening

Wasn't the fog game the one with the most delayed reaction to a goal ever, by us in the away end. Have no idea who got the goal coz it was up the other end and we couldn't see anything at all. Then we see the players trotting back into their own half and, hang on a minute, Doncaster are taking kick off arnt they?! But, that...we must have scored! Queue celebration, probably about a couple of minutes after the goal actually went in. Why the ref didn't call the game off I'll never know but glad he didn't because if memory serves we won 1-0. By a goal no-one will ever remember.

I was there for this. Mahoney gave us the lead after 2 minutes and I remember the Snodin brothers playing for Doncaster.

Incredible game

Both the 4-4 and the 1-0's were Saturday games.

I wasn't at the 1-0 game but remember GRANDSTAND giving the result as 1-0 to Doncaster - only to correct it after a few minutes

it was alright for you lot..... the vidi-printer gave out the score as Doncaster 1 Brentford 0... we were well ****ed off as Rovers were well adrift at the bottom..... then 10 mins later... correction..... :bound:

Paul Williams scored in his purple patch of a months loan.. 6 goals..

ps as long as the ref can see both goals from the half way line, the game can go ahead, i bet with today's namby pamby rules it would be called off :pah:

I was at the game in the fog, one of the more memorable games I have seen. I flew in from the States that morning, my mate Terry picked me up, a quick change at his house then off to Kings X for a train to Donny. The fog only came in during the last 10 mins and it was unbelievable almost like a movie machine churning it out! The only way we knew where the ball was, was by following the linesman. They also hit the bar right near the end and fater the final whistle started calling us cheats! I remember talking to Andy Sinton about it and he said they couldn't see out there either.

The Donny game I went to was definitely a Friday night. 1985 I think it was.
Had a fair and races at the track over the road, before the evening game and we lost 0-1 !

The two previous games at Doncaster, as I recall, were a 5-7 defeat to Reading, (Kerry Dixon got a hatful) and a 6-3 win.

When the game ended (BOOOOOOKER!) at 4-4, a Donny fan turned to me and said what a shame because they were hoping for a five setter!

Great day out.
Lilac wine (Elkie on the PA)

i see to recall that Keith Bowen might have got ine the goals. If he did, then i have seen the equivilent of an eclipse.
