I know I am sitting on the fence, but have backed a number as the odds are too good :
Vijay Singh 20-1 (Main bet)
Garcia 21-1
Harrington 32-1
Daren Clarke 46-1
Stuart Appleby 55-1
Jacobsen 70-1
Bjorn 75-1
Westwood 80-1
Poulter 100-1
Luke Donald 160-1
David Howell 170-1
and finally Jacquelin 430-1
Large layout but any of them in the final running then the bets can be layed off on betfair..... Fingers crossed

Still have 1 double running of Sharapova for Wimbledon & Goosen for The Open....He was 25/1 but now down to c.14/1,so not much value. Really seems to be anyone's Championship,as diff.winners each week, so a spread of each ways might be best tactics.
If looking at outsiders such as Westwood (coming back into form), then what about Thomas Levet having a 2nd good week in a row, also @ 80/1?

Levet is 100/1 with Bet365.
bet365 are offering e/w top 5 whereas totesport e/w top 6.

The great thing about golf betting now is that 100-1 shots and more are regularly winning. Major Championships inevitably went to the Big names in the past (although the USPGA has often sprung some strange results) but now the odd outsiders can win, just like Curtis did last year.
There is so much quality around thesedays if you fancy an outsider it might prove to stick with him.
Several bookies are going e/w on the first six. This could be where the value lies.
Although Tiger is swinging a bit steeper than days of old he could be massive at 8/1 and invariably starts badly, so you might get bigger. He tees off at 1.42 in the first round.
Troon has an easy front night, which often plays predominantly downwind - this is where the pros will build their scores.
Stephen Ames is on fire at present and at 50/1 he's good value. I like Ian Poulter at 100/1 - might get about 25's as top Brit?
A lot depends on the conditions but you can guarantee Els will be in the top six! He warmed us nicely last week and will still be sore from missing out on the US Masters this year.
Good luck

The beauty is that the bookies will always put Tiger Woods as favourite, as you can get the top 5 by doing each way it is always worth looking at 33/1 + player !!!
Bjorn at 50/1 is good. Faldo is good bet at 150/1.

My five against the field are:
Retief Goosen 16/1 (2 wins, 2 top 10s in last 6)
Stephen Ames 40/1 (1 win, 4 top 10s in last 6, ranked 5th in birdies, 19th in putting, 9th greens in regulation & 16th driving on US Tour)
Tim Clark 125/1 ew (2 top 10s, 2 top 20s in last 6, 6th in driving accuracy)
Steve Flesch 150/1 ew (1 win, 2 top 10s in last 6, 33rd in driving accuracy)
Bo Van Pelt 300/1 ew (1 top 4, 2 top 10s in last 6, 8th in total driving)
I'll copy this to the stupid bets thread straight after the tournament :D

To be honest I'm looking at Van Pelt being the big priced outsider who sticks around the top 10 for all 4 days as they have most years at the open, I can't really see him winning it but 75/1 for a place about a player having his best season to date seemed reasonable value. There will be at least one "no name" player somewhere in the top 10, it's just a case of getting lucky in finding him.

paddypower are refunding all losing singles if Tiger wins, and paying out e/w on the top 6
i know nothing about golf, so there is probably a very good reason David Duval is 500-1 lol (don't tell me, i don't wanna know rofl)
my bets are...
Els 13/2
Allenby 40/1
Casey 100/1
Evans 150/1
Duval 500/1
good luck to gazza and my bro

I have to admit I was surprised to see Duval was 500/1. Then I saw the number of cuts he'd made in the last couple of seasons :D It's not quite in Ian Baker Finch territory, but 10 cuts made in 2 years (and only 4 since the start of 2003) isn't normally the profile of an Open winning golfer. Given his behaviour at the Ryder Cup in the past it couldn't happen to a nicer fella as well rofl
its just my opinion...

I presume you mean the Ryder Cup in Boston and the scenes after Leonard holed that putt?? I think that many of there team behaved poorly, none more so than Tom Lehman. A very religious man, he stands out more than any. I just hope the good Lord can forgive him for his actions.....
Incidently, Mr Duval was the only member of the American team at the last Ryder Cup (at the Belfry) who actually joined the Europeans when they were celebrating long into the night after victory. Fair play to him, especially when he hadnt played his best golf. :)

I think you've got the wrong man Simon
Duval is more of a gentleman than most in past Ryder Cups. IJMO is correct in saying Lehman was chielf culprit - remember Torrances "and Tom Lehman calls himself a man of God??" quote, over the scenes when Jason Leonard holed from 50 fts before Ollie had a putt for a half!
Duvals speech at Lytham is regarded as one of the finest and most humble ever given by an Open winner, particularly as he had an ice cool image at the time. Duval once hit 59 in one tournament, incredible stuff
His slump in form has also coincided with a new relationship in where he is taking on a lady with 3 children and he admits his prorities in life have changed. Still a wonderful swinger of the club I doubt he will ever get back to the halcyon days.
Should be 1,000-1 at least

That is true. I think Duval is a very good professional some may say he is arrogant but I think he comes across as a person who just gets on doing his job ! Good luck to him !

Too bloody right, its a shame that not all professional sportsmen dont put in the same level on commitment and consentration whilst playing their sport! A model pro in my eyes, never let things get to him. :sorted:
