Anyone remember this band / Person?

He is still playing local .

Get him down Stripes for a "Red Lion" reunion!

A "Chuck Farley" gig would be amazing but I bet Boz (Burrell - bad company) is near dead and Geoffery Whitehead's head would be too big now :(

...Boz Burrell has retired from the music biz but he does pop=up on some US jazz albums where I think he now lives. Geoff Whitehorn I think it is, was also in Bad Co for the 90's plus he curently tours with Ian Hunter's band last I heard.
We should do a Red Lion reunion ight - Casual Affair are obviously back plus any other bands who played there dwon the years. Would be ideal around Dec/Xmas time!

Geoffery played with that british rock tour gig with Roger Daltrey etc - it was weird seeing him on stage with Alice Cooper / Fampton etc - it was whitehorn as well :)
Whitehead was that dick of a centre half in 82 lol

Boz was a top bloke - even ended up around his place once to see his recording studio in Kensington

How about FASTBUCK, RODEO and my second favs after Chuck F - "The Dirty Strangers" :)

Aussie - do you remember CASUAL AFFAIR from the Red Lion? They played there a lot and had a cult following in their time. Still do actually, as their recent performances at Stripes have shown.
Top notch entertainment, they would be great on a Saturday after a home game. They are pencilled in for a Friday in October already :sorted:

Nah sorry PJ - Out of my time - I was there basically from 1982 - 84.
Went back in 1990 for a beer and it was still a live music pub then but never heard of "Casual Affair"

Used to go and see Rodeo all the time Aussie.

Fantastic pub group, can't imagine they are still going though.

Can hear them doing "Wish you were here" and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" now. I think I've even got one of their tapes somewhere.

Bloody hell, I'm about 5 years too late for this thread, but maybe someone will read it. Aussie B, I think I might remember who you are. I can't remember your name but I had some great boozy evenings with a very foul mouthed short arsed Aussie barman, I think you died your hair blonde and it was spiky? You lived upstairs, right?

I worked at the Red Lion behind the bar for just over a year, doing 7 nights a week so I got to see most of the band in the early eighties.

I even roadied for Chuck Farley a while as they were either all banned for drink driving or were likely to get drunk. The best gig was 9th Feb 1984 at USAF Upper Heyford at the Officer's Ball. It was packed, they came to see Boz and the atmosphere was electric. The lead singer, however was also brilliant, can't remember his name but what a great guy.

Rodeo was also great. Do you all remember Nellie the Elephant?? The whole pub used to sing to that one every sunday night. Chuck Farley I think used to be wednesdays. The after-show ****ups were memorable. That was my main source of women for a year, it was great !!

My memory is asleep for that time, I'm sure will come back but we had Desmond Decker, Gary Glitter, Dr Feelgood (I think)

I also remember a large Irish contingent in that pub, so when the beer flowed the atmosphere was great. Little did they know the landlord was pumping all the slops back into the barrels. I can't remember his name.

The Red Lion was a great pub for it's music. It was either packed or nearly packed. I only had to jump the bar a few times to split up the mauls.

It would be great to hear any more anecdotes.

When I was there I was know as Frank/Franky/Francisco

Best wishes

Of course, Fast Buck was the main band at that time, they had the Saturday Night slot. One of my girlfriends at the time was in love with the lead singer, was it Spencer? I'm not sure, great hair though. They also played the Angler's was it? I can't remember.

Of course their signature tune was "Beach Baby" as he/they were ex 'First Class'

They also introduced me to Meatloaf. The whole house would sing to Two out of Three Aint bad. Everyone knew the words and at least 150/200 people would sing the whole song.

More memories as they come back to me

Hi all, i just had to but in at the mention of "Rodeo", hope you dont mind! I used to follow them everywhere, wherever they played, i was a huge fan and madly in love with Alan the guitarist cos he looked like Errol Flynn! then there was Robbie on vocals, Phil on drums (before him was "animal") cant remember the bass players name though, was it Dave? I was down the Red Lion EVERY sunday night for years, havent forgot the songs they did, long cool woman in a black dress, air that i breathe, sweet caroline, you'll never walk alone, dark side of the moon. i remember one manager of the pub, scottish guy, Dave i think. does anyone remember the fancy dress nights oh and the boat trip Rodeo organised to grenwich. Just wondered if anyone knows where they are now, shouldnt think they are still playing pubs but if they are let me know!! maybe we should start a group for old fans! ..........Sheila x

Robbie is the dad of one of my best mates (Scott) and is living with his wife Rita in Bournemouth having retired and moved from their Chiswick home about five years ago. He was playing the pub circuit locally before his move south and he still sings live every now and again.

Myself and Scott used to play in a band (we are about to reform ) and when we started up we used to use a lot of Rodeo's old equipment!

I also remember Robbie playing me an old cassette of Rodeo playing live at the Red Lion, and it sounded like they used to have a lot of fun.

If you wanted to PM me I'd be happy to forward on to Robbie and I'll make sure he sees this thread.

Thanks for that info carefulmover. Im glad to hear Robbie is doing ok, he was a really nice guy, they all were, though its hard to think of him as retired! Ive got 2 old cassettes of theirs, one i recorded myself of a whole evening at the red lion, and the other they did in a studio i pressume, called 'a selection of favourites'. They were great nights i will remember forever, not only great fun but they were very talented guys and they knew just what songs to do to get us all singing along and Robbie was a real fun person. Next time you speak to him can you ask him what the others are doing now, especially Allan, lol. And give him my very best wishes and in case he doesnt remember, i was the redhead who always stood in the middle of the stage against the bar with a tall guy who was my boyfriend back then and our friend, a chubby guy. Thanks again for your reply.
