View Full Version : Where's Ijah?

A know a few people have been talking about Steve Hunt as a Bees 'Legend' but imho Ijah was one of the true legends of the last few years.
Last I heard of he'd been released by Brizzell Rovers and probably hasn't got a club. Given that he was unlucky to leave us and was one of our most consistent perfomers, it would be nice to see him sorted. I still reckon he'd give Myers a run for his money (a comment based, admittedly, on pure conjecture as I haven't seen Myers play).
Anyone got any news of him?

I thought he actually asked to leave and thought he would be offered teams in a division above rather than below us. He also made some nusavoury remarks about the club after an auction night in Stripes!

Never rated him. Too lightweight. And thought that he was better than he actually was.

Ijah was the most one - footed player I've ever seen.
A good lad in his time though and I can't help thinking that his career was blighted by breaking his leg in training just as Micky Adams took over.

Ijah used to be one of my favourite players until I heard him slagging the club off constantly and going on about how much better he was then the club. So I have no sympathy for him now what so ever. Before anyone says he loves Brentford then why wasn't he at the cenetary day then?

Ijah used to be one of my favourite players until I heard him slagging the club off constantly ?
did he really though or is this just another chinese rumour?
He probabaly came out of the bog and said "the toilets at brentford are cr@p, my home bog is much better", someone heard him and though he said "brentford are toilet and I am much better" etc etc etc...
These romours start and then a few months later we have people like you saying you heard him slag the club of constantly. Well, I never met ijah, but you must be best mates with him if you heard him say it "constantly", or is the reality just that you heard a few rumours "constantly" from people that never met him either?

Still one of my favourites. Forget what he might have said he always gave 100%. :sorted:

I will say this, the look on Ijah's face and his devistated collapse at the end of the Stoke playoff final suggested that he cared.

A complete & utter leg-end in my eyes. Loved him since day 1. Never shirked a challenge which is my bag.
To this day, I've still got that picture of him stripped to his black pants when we won the Third Division pinned to my board at work. :blush :sneakoff:

I was also always very happy with Ijah. However, maybe his devistation was to do with the fact HE wasn't going to get higher division football and not that Brentford had failed to get it. Just a thought.

I met him a couple of times; once at the Middlesex show just after Coppell had taken over. He was very realistic about his chances of coming back from injury and never said a bad word about the club. I was flattered that he took the time to chat to myself and friend when he didn't really HAVE to at all. An absolute gentleman.
I think Ijah had for many years the same quality that we have attributed to Steven Hunt- a passion for the club which continued despite fading skills.
I wish him well where ever he is playing now.

Ijah played for Bristol Rovers reserves in a psf at Clevedon Town on Thursday night. My son watched the game, but I was out playing darts.
