"We worked hard tonight – it was a good performance by our team. I made a lot of changes to the team to rest some people, to give some people the opportunity to play in the first team. They all worked very hard for each other and the football club. I always say if you work that hard, whatever the score you can come in and I will give you a big hug. They tried the best.

"They have no reason to be disappointed with the result. They should be happy with the way they played. They tried to get the ball down and pass it. I think the faith the Brentford have shown us, even though Saturdays performance was poor was reflected with how many supporters we had here tonight, and the noise they made throughout to support the team.

"Our club has come forward very very quickly in a short space of time. We were close to being relegated at the end of last season. To come to a place like this tonight, to a team that was close to going to the Premiership last season. Our club was going close to going down to a division I cannot remember what its called, and nearly going out of business. To come here was fantastic for everyone at the club. I think the players have done us proud. They have made me very happy at last.

"The last goal was due to our keeper going up for a corner, god bless him. That’s OK. The other one happened very quick. Before passing judgement I would like to look at the video before giving an assessment. We have conceded 6 goals in our last 2 away games this has been bitterly disappointing considering the hard work we put into training.

"For this game tonight we haven’t done any training or any coaching. We just asked the players to go out and to enjoy themselves and make the most of a great stadium, surface and everything about this football club. And we all did."

(with the usual thanks to Trandy)

Don`t understand the going out of business comment.

It means you can increase the players' budget by £91,000 and some back-room budgets too.

He was referring to the two league games away, because he talks about the hard work they'd done in training, whereas "for this game tonight we haven’t done any training or any coaching".

So with no coaching or training we do better vs a team much higher up than we do with a lot of training vs two teams the same as us.

So, save money all round AND be successful: sack MA and his staff and let the players "go out and enjoy themselves" EVERY match, as against Ipswich ;-)

He actually corrected himself after saying "we haven't not done any training" to say "we haven't not done any coaching", as the players were at the training ground Sunday and Monday prior to the fixture.

Shoddy journalism, wouldn't have happened if I was there :D
