Im not the best at networking so here goes.
I have connected my laptop to my PC using an ethernet connection and am trying to tunnel through my adsl connection rather than using dial up on the laptop. I have created a direct network between the two (I think. They can see each other but cant access files even though Ive turned file sharing on, odd) and enabled internet sharing and connection tunneling on my PC for the laptop to use, but all I ever get when trying to tunnel through is "verifying VPN servers" and then it just dies.
Ive gone through searches on google and that seems to be all I need to do although some of the details are vague. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to do something else?

You don't need a tunnel just to share the internet connection. Have you got a firewall on either of the machines? If so try turning it off and seeing if it works.

Ive tried turning off both machines firewalls with no luck. I dont want to share, I do actually want to tunnel for security purposes.

Maybe you need to set one as the server and one as the client
