a friend cannot get his PC to start up, it says that SMC cannot run, anyone out there with any ideas? Safe Mode doesn't work.....

please help!

It is part of Sygate firewall. What version of windows is it?

try holding shift down as it boots to by pass startup group programs loading.

will tell him, if taht fails can he wipe the hard drive easily and re install from scratch? :wave:

A lot of systems come with a restore disk that you can just poke in and let it do it all for you, others can be a bit more complicated but it's not that hard. The worst part is that you will lose everything on your disk.
