The Standing Order is good value as its a Wetherspoons. And it is very big inside.

Nearer to the station, Encore (24, old Rat and Parrot) is your typical pub-in-town-centre but not too big. More roomier ones on the on the way to the ground are Old Fat Cat and Tavern in The Town (16 & 17). These are pretty big but prices are higher than Standing Order. Saintforever seems to have designated them "Home" pubs - could be good or bad depending on ticket situation.

When you get past the high street and down towards St Marys itself, the pubs get smaller, more grotty and less welcoming.

Weatherspoons and several other pubs in the Polygon area....mainly student land...so beer usually a bit cheaper :) :)

Yep. Pub 15 on the map, Giddy Bridge, is also a Wetherspoons. It is slightly smaller than the Standing Order but probably just as good a location as it is (a bit) closer to SMS.

About 300 metres north of here is the Varsity. Big and on 2 levels and reasonably cheap. But it is going in the opposite direction to SMS though!! And is also "studenty", but less so on Saturday afternoons.

As Aberdeen says, there are smaller, student-oriented pubs around here, especially to the side roads on the left hand side of the main road where you find Giddy Bride (the Wetherspoons).
