So Niemi it is then!
I'm sorry, but managers make decisions for the game, and Redknapp will think Niemi has benn there and done it so will get the role.
Experience counts.

Not so sure, Smudger has done exceptionally well, MoM two games running and a certain matchwinner against Tottingham.
In the circumstances Redknapp might take the view his shirt is there to be lost rather than won. As Claire says the league is their main priority.
One more match towards our next payout methinks.

From the Currant Bun today - how much would that trigger or does he need to captain an Earth XI v. Mars for us to get the full whack?
SOUTHAMPTON keeper Paul Smith is on the verge of an England call-up.
Sven Goran Eriksson watched rookie Smith produce a string of saves on Saturday during the 4-0 FA Cup defeat against Manchester United.
Now the former Brentford stopper, 25, is mounting a serious challenge to take over from Saints No 1 Antti Niemi.
Southampton goalkeeping coach David Coles revealed members of the England coaching staff had been in contact.
Coles said: “Martin Thomas was reporting for England goalkeeping coach Ray Clemence and he said he was really impressed.”

From memory, and I know this has been gone over repeatedly, but I think it's:
£100k first 20 appearances
£100k after 40 appearances
£50k for an England appearance

lets hope he gets a call-up. i think he would have more chance if there was a friendly ahead rather than world cup qualifiers.

"Paul Smith has done brilliantly. He has come in and been solid and has done his chances no harm at all.
"A month ago I would not have put him anywhere near Antti, simply because I did not know much about him.
"He had never played in The Premiership so I did not know how he would react but he has turned in some terrific displays.
redknobb makes me laugh  Portsmouth were one of the clubs looking to sign Smith, So guess who was the manager at that time so what a stupid comment to make

Drop Smithy in favour of Niemi after his recent performance?? :nono:
Bye bye Redknapp, and good luck Mr Lowe on trying to sell your infamous 1300 or so optional 'away' tickets to the likes of Burnley, Crewe and maybe Hull on a Tuesday night in the Championship! rofl

Too true, after recent events Soton are one of my least favourite clubs.
