View Full Version : Why is " " sometimes displayed on a web page?

Any ideas? I think it is some sort of ascii value that is not being translated correctly. Not quite sure why though. It normally appears at the end of a paragraph. I think the corresponding ascii value is '?' (I modified the '&' so it would appear correctly in the title).

There was some fuss resently that people phishing for financial data could use non standard character sets to confuse people as it is now possible to register URLs that feature umlauts, accents, cyrillic letters etc. Most browsers now have this patched so that is why you might be seeing that.

Here's a bit from a very boring book!
Authors should use & (ASCII decimal 38) instead of & to avoid confusion with the beginning of a character reference (entity reference open delimiter).
