I know **** all about this shit, so nocoat told me last night to post a thread on here & to ask the resident geeks for help. ;)
What deals are out there that an amateur & a novice like me can take advantage of?
Tiscali? Their advertising blitz has got them lodged in my head - They're cheap like the budgie but are they any good?

Remember to point out that you want unlimited surf time, but not really interested in downloading stuff all the time... :computer: :computer:

Steer clear of the likes of Tiscali and AOL. Plus are meant to be good. So, I think, are Pipex. And I have generally had few problems with v21.

Home Call are Excellent and the best value around at the moment, If you do use them let me know before you sign up as you can give my mail address and make my bill £5 Cheaper next month.

I use plus and have recommended them many times on here, they are doing free setups at the mo and will give you up to 2meg for 14.99 a month.

Ey, I checked their website out because I remember you saying something about them in the past - The only thing that seems to be a bit of a stinker is that they charge what seems like stupid amounts if you decide to leave them.
Still a good deal though. :sorted:

I've always been with BT (now Yahoo) Openworld and once you're set up there's little problem. Rarely crashes and no restrictions on downloading - a wee bit expensive though @ £27 a month.

Wanadoo here, 1.1mbps, £17.99 a month.
Seems ok, I was with Demon Internet broadband for over a year, they were good too, no problems whatsoever.
the £17.99 deal has a 2gb download limit per month. That seems fine for normal browsing & shopping - maybe not ideal for downloading music or sharing files. There is a £23 a month option with higher a limit, and a £28 one too I think

With Pipex, £23 for 512, but getting upgraded for free to 1meg. never had a problem, highly recommend them

I've got Tiscali and although i've had a few problems, they aren't too bad. I've heard good things about Plusnet though

I have been looking at V21. They dont have download limits which would suit me as I am quite a heavy user. I think they are something like £19.99 a month for a 1gb line.

Si, I have a Commodore 64. Very good it is. Colour and everything.
Alternatively, try the C16/+4 or a VIC 20.

A well thought out argument, however, I personally would rather the play offs had never come into existence.
