I know some of out statisticians like to keep themselves occupied so...
if Jerrome Sobers doesn't get retained, he'll have the record of having played only one game but having scored in it. Are there any previous Bees with the record of one game, one goal?

Mark Jansen (something like that) who came and on scored with his first touch against Gillingford at Priestfield. We won 2-1.
He only played something like 40 minutes in total, although he played against Chesterfield in a bore draw at GP on the bank holiday Monday under Webby (season we lost to Crewe).

Mark Janney.
The Gillingham game was on Easter Monday 1997 and he scored with his first touch, certainly wasn't his only game though.
We played Chesterfield later that season 2 days after they played Middlesboro in the FA Cup Semi Final, they left 10 players out and we scraped a 1-0 win.
Apart from that you're right ;)

Thanks all. I remember Janney and Thorne (who I think played 2 games: one away where he scored and one at home where he was useless, but possibly that was a cup game), but wouldn't have remembered Wilson though I was going to matches back then

Just had a quick look.
The game after Gillingham we played Shrewsbury at home and drew 0-0, Janney started, was replaced, and never played again.

All the geek stats I've used are for league games only.

Wilson scored in the last game of the season against, er, can't remember but it was a header and it was in front of the Royal Oak.

It's difficult to track back before 1900 as, for example, in the 1897/8 season there were a number of players using pseudonyms - "A Newman", "A Goodun" and "A Bee" all featured in the first team. However a player named McMillan played and scored in the 5-4 away win over St Albans on 24/11/1898 in the Southern League 2nd Division and if he hadn't been using an alternative name earlier this was his only game.
Moving forward Farnfield scored in the 3-1 home win over Mid Rhondda on 14/3/1914 again in the Southern League 2nd Division, his only traceable match.
Ignoring matches played when normal fixtures were suspended 1914/19 the next instance is Lockwood on 14/2/1920 scoring on his only appearance in the 2-0 home win over Southend in the Soutern League 1st Division.
Then in the 1927/8 season (Division 3 South) there is the possibility of 2 players on consecutive days. I say possibility as Price scored on 6/4/1928 in the 3-1 win over Norwich. However Price was #10 (inside left) and 2 years before a Price had played 12 games at #3 (left back) - don't know if this was the same player. However the following day (7/4/1928) Cairns scored in the 5-1 win over Bristol Rovers, his only match.
Finally on 31/3/51 (Division 2) Kelly scored in the 5-1 win over Grimsby his only match that I can trace. Interesting that I was almost certainly at that game as in those days my dad & I never missed a game.
Hope that is all of interest, credit goes to "100 Years of Brentford" and a magnifying glass.

The first named was an amatuer from Woking who later joined Fulham, the other was from Swindon Town...
