Bad scan results - still 6 weeks away from training!!!

Oh Dear!!!

Radio 5 is reporting it as good scan results and that he will be ready for full training in six weeks - in time for the knockout stages.

But Ed, he's not allowed to kick a ball for 6 weeks, can't really see it happening...

That makes him available on the day of the first Semi Final.

Not gonna happen....

If the six-week prediction by medical staff is correct, Rooney would be fit just two days before the final.

How can you tell from a scan that someone can't kick a ball for 6 weeks.

Conspiracy theory no. 1 : G14 don't want to release players for internationals unless their players are paid. ManUre make an example of Rooney. Club physician walks out because they asked him to lie which is against his hypocratic oath.

Sorry Ed, but they've got their sums wrong: 6 weeks = Rooney would be fit just two days before the final.

It's time for Sven to give up waiting and replace him with a fit striker. And I'm sure Man U wouldn't allow him to take a risk.

Hmm so its Crouch or play Gerrard behind Owen. I would replace Rooney with Defoe now because if we get to the final there is little point in playing someone who has been injured for 2 months.

BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/world_cup_2006/teams/england/5019094.stm) now says that he will not discover when he can begin training for another 3 weeks.

They meant six weeks from the date of the injury.

Still wouldn't take him, for me its too much of a risk to potentially have only 3 fit strikers in the squad. What happens if Owen gets injured in the first group game? I am assuming we can't replace Hargreaves unless he is injured?

I'm only relaying what I heard on the radio - don't shoot the messenger!

And they seem to have backtracked a bit on it being good news now.

If we get to the final, how could you possibly justify Rooney selection for a final. It would be bad for team morale surely. Take a fit player to replace Rooney. :sorted:

Exactly. Why have the BBC now backtracked and said he will not know when he can train until 14th June? I'm wondering whether the original statement that he was going to be out until 7th July was indeed correct but they don't want to deflate morale? :conspiracytheorysmilie:

It is now time to unleash Gerrard just behind Owen. :love2:

Think it's time to call up Defoe or Johnson. We have to confirm whether Rooney is going by 9 June and his next check-up is 13th or 14th. With too few other strikers in the squad, I don't think we can afford the risk - important player though he is

Eriksson will take him 100% guarenteed. If you listen to his comments on Sky Sports News it leaves me in no doubt that he is willing to risk him even though there is no guarentee he will play. I don't know if i am missing something here but there surely is no guarentee he will be fit for any of the World Cup matches. Seems that some people think he will be training on 14th June which is utter bollocks

I would pay good money to watch Sir Alex Ferguson knock ten tonnes of shit out of Sven-Goran Eriksson over this... :afro:

Isn't he training now? He can't kick a football but surely he must be doing fitness training.
