What a bunch of nob the African nations look like being this time round.
I wasn't following African qualification too closely ( :computer: ) - what went wrong? Why no Senegal, no Cameroon, no Egypt?
Only the Ivory Coast will avoid a thrashing, and even they'll only surprise people for a while.

No Nigeria either...

Ghana... Michael Essien?
I don't think Africa is different to anywhere else in the world. The teams which qualify are the ones which performed best in their groups, and that is the teams we have.

Interesting article in the New Statesman last week (here (http://www.newstatesman.com/200605290007)) about why Pele's prediction about an African nation winning the World Cup won't come true.

Angola... Ghana... Ivory Coast... Togo... Tunisia...
Having Togo and Ivory Coast in the world cup is what's is all about. Having the same old nations would be boring. :sorted:

Having the same old nations would be boring. :sorted:Would you apply the same thinking to Europe? Get rid of England, France, Italy, Germany and Spain and let Scotland, Finland, Serbia, Wales and Bulgaria have a go!

ps Serbia are in this world cup ;)Yes - and this is of course (part of) the information you need to know when someone points out that there are 33 countries represented in the World Cup this time around!

A few of these sides may cause an upset,i mean who gave Senagal a chance of beating France in 2002?

Angola went through because they scored 5 minutes from time to beat Nigeria and go through on Goal Difference.
Togo went through because they beat Senegal 3-1 in the last game to go above them.

A little joke, no offence intended.
African football seems to be in a right old state. Ghana, Togo, Ivory Coast and Angola are going to have it very tough at the World Cup, expect some old-fashioned 8-0 thrashings.
Until Africa contains at least one respectable domestic league though, little can improve.

I've read some articles tipping both Ghana & Ivory Coast to perform well in this World Cup, but look at the groups they are in:
Group C:
Argentina
Holland
Ivory Coast
Serbia & Montenegro
Group E:
Czech Republic
Ghana
Italy
USA
No hope.

I don't care who's in it from Europe as long as we are. :sorted:
