i hope you haven't... The game doesn't get released til 27th October.. http://gpgrapevine.co.uk/ubb/wink.gif
Perhaps you are the Howard Wilkinson of CM3.
I enjoy the game much better if i don't win everything in sight, perhaps being a Bees fan has something to do with it!!!!
i play 4-5-1 once i get to the Prem and i don't let too many goals in, i think everyone has their own way of doing things. That's just the tactic that i found first that worked best. Finished 4th and am 12th at the mo after being bottom at the start..

attacking wingers (up to the top) and central attacking mid (up a bit)
if the other team plays a man in the hole behind the front 2, get a midfielder to play anchor man and man mark him....
my attacker also hold the ball up.

I will try it, do your attacking wingers go as far up as the forward or just half way into oppos half, I presume level with the attacking central midfielder.Your midfield makes a w shape.

On CM 99/00, I took Brentford to the very top and teh only trophies I failed to win were the AWS and the UEFA Cup (which I only qualified for once, through finishing third in the Champions League groups). Was a bit annoyed not to get the England job, having won the FA Cup, Premiership, Champions League, World Club Cup (Tokyo version) and World Club Championship (new version) all in the same season!
Tactics 3 central defenders, two wing backs, two central midfielders, one attacking midfielder and two centre forwards. I think it's called 5-3-2 attacking.
Star players: Danny Boxall, Scott Marshall, Gareth Graham, Paul Ifill, Paul Dillon, Hermann Hreidsrsson, Jamie Shore, Simon Davies, Tonton Zola Moukoko.

Got this text in a file on my comp, plucked from an old thread, dunno how good it is though, never tried the players. Got an editor and made everyone super brilliant, offers of £20 million for Steve Jenkins!!! Plus putting myself in the team http://gpgrapevine.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif .
Anyways:
GK Magnus Hedman, but Jason Pearcey ain't that bad.
RB Danny Boxall's OK but you may want to get Ricky Newman from Millwall.
LB Ijah's hard to beat, and Hermann makes a useful LB. Also Paul Dillon from Rotherham (?)
CB Paul Dillon is good in this position too. Try David Woozley from Palace (after a year or two). There are some omore. If I remember them I'll add them later.
CM Denis Boyle from Queen of the South. More later.
AMC Rowlands, of course. Also you can try Geoff Pitcher, of Kingstonian, and Freddy Ljungberg.
SC Paul Ifill of Millwall is England class. Tonton Zola Moukoko (yes, really), from Derby's reserves is the business. Play 5-3-2 attacking. Direct tactics in Div2, Mixed in Div1 and Short in Prem. Get Ray Lew to be your assistant.
Ijah does the business for me. Gareth Graham is always outstanding as well. By the way, I have found that 433 tactics, with a big striker in the middle often gets plenty of goals. Adam Nowland, Martin Butler, and Andy Cooke have scored almost 90 goals between them as I won the 1st Division to go into the Premiership!! I'm a bit worried now as I have just found that I have no money to sort out my team. Gareth Graham, does not make a good captain until he is about 24/25 yrs old. Get a keeper called Steve Edwards if he exists on your version, and David Hughes (Central Defender) is a useful buy.
Sorry I cant credit it to anyone, deleted all non-essential info when I copied it.

The first bit looks like tips from me - up to the bit about making Ray Lew assistant. After that, I dunno - I never tried 4-3-3.

i can't hack it as manager of the bees, i just lose all the time, so for boring people who play as top continental teams, my tips are (not reliable, cos i ain't played it for near on 2 months)
5-3-2 Attacking (good call lads http://gpgrapevine.co.uk/ubb/biggrin.gif)
GK : Mattias Asper
RB : Kieron Dyer
LB : Roberto Carlos
SW : Manuel Sanchis (BTW this is from my real madrid team http://gpgrapevine.co.uk/ubb/biggrin.gif he's my asst too, is 40 but still the biz!!) or Rio Ferdinand
CB : Woodgate/Cannavaro
MD : McPhail, Seedorf, Karembeu (don't piss him off like i did, quality player!!) can't think who else i have!!...Geremi!!
Attacking Midfielder : Johnnier Montano the man, simply put, 16-y-o at Parma, shortlist him, they may well release him after a year, they did in mine...or Joey Cole/Robbie Keane
FW : Javier Saviola don't try if u r an english club (f'ing work permits!!), but he has scored sackloads for me already and is only 17 at start of game...12 in 8 games for Argentina as well!! Owen is pants, Morientes, Vieri, Diego Tristan and Raul Tamudo are my other strikers...sell Raul as soon as poss, he is crap on game...
pearls of wisdom are now finished... http://gpgrapevine.co.uk/ubb/biggrin.gif

mhead bee from my many hours playing CM I have found that playing a defensive midfielder just in front of a back 3 can really cut down the amount of goals you let in. Also play your wide players as far wide as you can get them on the tactics screen. You will find you can get the ball forward easier as when they gat tackled you win a throw in. You also need to find a formation and stick to it the players don't like the formation being changed all the time (as in real life) and will settle into a new formation after 3 or 4 games.

Talking of computer games (simulations)have any of u seen our very own Bee in the Premier League, all be it the Playstation game The F.A. Premier League Stars 2001. Mark Williams, the flying winger, was on the motion capture. The people who get all dressed up in the sensors, I suppose. Obviously EA Sports sees something in our players!

Employ the maximum number of scouts you can and assign them to different parts of the world (South America, Scandinavia etc) you can pick up some real bargains who are absolute class. Once had a teenage Swedish striker who cost 20k who I later sold to Necastle for £8 million.
