It's our first game of 2001 this coming Saturday at home to Reading.

This game is at Warren Farm, Greenford ko 10:30am.
If anybody needs directions please email and I'll send them on to you.

I've had interest from 16 players, this is about two players too many; so if anyone thinks they won't be able to make it (or only wants to play one half/thinks they will only be able to last one half) please let me know.

I'll post a separate message for the Gillingham game which is on Sunday 25 February

If you think I've (missed someone off/included someone that I shouldn't have) please let me know.

Players for Reading:
Joe Stedman
Newbury Bee
Minky
Leigh Miah
Scratchy
Shaggy
Paul Harrison
Mick Broom
Jon Lindley
Rick Scales
Gary Thomas
Steven Smith
Andy Mutton
PJ
James Kylo
Gary Paul

Referee for the game will be Terry Clarke who helps out in the Football in
the Community office and ref-d our games against Millwall and Wycombe last
year.

Match Fees
£5 (£2.50 for students/unwaged); half that amount (ie: £2.50 + £1.25 if you
only play half a game or less). My good friend Paul "break your legs if you
don't pay up" Fitzsimons will be collecting the money.

Shouldn't that be Paul "Drink yer Guinness if you don't pay up" Fitzsimons?

I wouldn't suggest putting me in charge of any kind of food Mr Thomas as it won't last long! :-)

I have a problem.

We have too many players for this Saturday's game; 16 people have made
themselves available, plus also Muk and Rob Pyle would like to be added to
the list. And I've not bothered to include Joshua who would love to play.
So, this would make it 19.

Normally we like to have 14 players on the day, as this allows for the odd
"no show on the day" and injuries etc.
We normally also have one or two people who back out in the week leading up
to a game, but the reverse is true for this one as more people have made
themselves available.

We're going to be averaging a game or tournament every two weeks from here
to WorldNET in July (which is much more than most teams normally play); so
my suggestion is that we ration things; or I'll have to use some sort of
"squad rotation" system.

Whilst I love it on the (rare) occasions that we win a game, this team has
never been about winning. It's about building bridges with other supporters
and having a laugh before, during and after the game
The emphasis will always be to give everyone a fair and equal run out,
regardless of ability, (although I'm always open to bribery).

So my suggestion for this Saturday's game is this: if anyone volunteers to
drop out of this Saturday's game, I will GUARANTEE them a full game in the
next match that they make themselves available for and, if we can make it
work, in their preferred position.

If this doesn't work I'll have to drop two players from the 16 (to be fair
it will the two players who made themselves available last, but I won't say
who they are yet, just in case it doesn't come to that) and I'll have to say
no to Muk and Rob.

If anyone thinks I'm wrong, please let me know, and please let me know what
alternative suggestions they have.

I'm not 100% 'fit'. So it would make sense for me to drop out this match.

In case you haven't got the e-mail...

I'll retire gracefully from the squad for this one, if that'll help

Thanks very much, three people have withdrawn from this Saturday's game.
Paul H
James
Mick Broom

So I'll definitely give those people priority in the next game that they are available for.
No more withdrawals please, or else we won't have enough!
