Brentford have announced that Craig Woodman has left the club after his contract was terminated by mutual consent. The 29 year-old left back joined the Bees from Wycombe Wanderers in the summer of 2010 having been the Chairboy’s Club Captain and Player of the Season two years running. After scoring in his first competitive appearance at Griffin Park, he was a virtual ever-present in his first year, making a total of 54 appearances before a foot injury curtailed his season and prevented him playing every minute of the 2010/11 Campaign.
Following Andy Scott’s departure, Woodman initially continued to notch up the appearances under new Boss Uwe Rosler, before losing his place to Toffees youngster Jake Bidwell at the turn of the year and seeing his appearances limited to just three in the second half of the season as he struggled to dislodge the impressive Everton loanee. Having been made available for transfer at the beginning of May agreement has now been reached that will see Craig continue his career away from TW8 having made a total of 79 appearances in a Bees shirt. We wish him well for the future.
