Didn't think it was a foul from my position in the family stand. Just a nasty collision.
Billy I looked over at the Lino when the ref didn't know what to do and he clearly signalled to the ref that it was a push as he held his hand out imitating a push. Ref bottled it

The linesman signalled back pass quite clearly after the ref consulted him. It was never a foul as Farid was caught by the keeper as he slid out for the ball. Total accident

I have to be honest, if its as long a lay-off as is being thought (even though I havent seen anything about actual duration yet) - I'm worried he might not be the same player when he comes back and his Brentford career ends up fizzling out

Apparently he is looking to re-sign Jeffrey Schlupp as a replacement. Makes sense.

The lino held his hand out with the palm flat and facing the referee, clearly indicating a handball. Because of the height of the keeper's hand when the ball struck it, and the ref's position, the ref could easily have thought the ball had struck his head or body. Absolutely correct work by the lino. Only question to me was that the back pass could have been heading straight in: possible red card?

Would have been VERY harsh in the circs, given how close the defender was to the keeper; free kick and no card was right decision IMHO. I can remember a TV game a few years ago when a defender hit a back-pass much too hard, forcing the keeper to make a goal-line save with his hands; the ref 'diplomatically' didn't interpret it as a back-pass (think the GK side was Prem against lower division) as it would have had to be a red card as it prevented a goal

Let's not preempt things. Farid will be recieving excellent medical care and no reason to doubt he'll return as fit and strong as ever to resume his coin kissing antics.

It is NOT a bookable offence for a keeper to handle a back pass even if it was going into the goal

True enough but knee injuries are awful. Half the battle is only physical - playing again knowing the knee could go anytime takes courage. In a way I hope it's a fractured kneecap rather than ligament damage. Either way I doubt we'll see him again this season. On the plus side his game wasn't directed by pace, so he has less to lose in that respect

So am I, but It's even better than that, our youth team keeper Joe Taylor has just been picked as New Zealands 1st choice for the U17's 2013 world cup qualifiers, perhaps we will now become a club selling on very high quality keepers for LARGE ammounts of dosh ?, the only worry is the way Moore is now playing it would not suprise me if he not being watched with great interest by other clubs higher up, good job we still have Richard Lee as well.

    great stuff.
for the first time in my lifetime,we are able to keep hold of players and not feel the need to flog them at the first sign of a pound note.now,i hope, the club will sell on only if the price is right

i cant see any of our top prospects going anywhere soon with the clubs ambition

Are you sure? How badly do we need more budget for the first team squad? Does the ambition stretch as far as the first team?

I thought their goalkeeper parried the ball, he didn't even pick it up so it should not have been a free kick........ (I think). Just a horrible accident.

all he has to do is touch a back pass with his hands and it is a free kick, as happened last week

Any idea now what's wrong with him?

    How long?

It's been nearly a month. It'd be nice to know.

Agreed. Surely the club can say something about the nature of the injury. Am I reading too much into Uwe's comment today about hoping he'll not be out too long?

When it was originally discussed I pictured 6 months at least in my head, when they said "Farid will now commence a lengthy period of rehabilitation with the long term aim of returning to full fitness" just gave me the impression the club ruled him out for the short term. I don't imagine we'll see him for a while...

This sounds marginally more hopeful than "Farid will now commence a lengthy period of rehabilitation with the long term aim of returning to full fitness" .
    Get well soon Farid.

Some better news on Farid too. Let's hope he progresses and gets back to first team football.
