Brentford have confirmed that Pim Balkestein has left the club and joined AFC Wimbledon after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent. He leaves having made a total of 46 appearances for the Bees, scoring twice.
The 25 year-old Dutch Centre Half initially joined the Bees on loan from Ipswich during the 2009/10 Season and spent a month with the Bees before returning on loan again in March for the rest of the Campaign. He was an instant hit, turning in several outstanding performances as the Bees consolidated following their return to League 1.
In what was seen at the time as a major signing, then Bees Boss Andy Scott secured Pim’s services on a permanent 3 year deal in the subsequent close season. However, the big Dutchman struggled to recapture the form he displayed during his loan spell and was restricted to just 27 appearances in his first full season in TW8.
He found his opportunities further restricted last Season following the arrival of new Boss Uwe Rosler and spent time on loan at both Rochdale and AFC Wimbledon, before returning to feature for the Bees in the final few games of the season.
We here at GPG Towers wish Pim well for the future. Discussions here please.
