Exactly. Millwall is a club we should look to emulate. If you read Mike Calvin's book 'Family' you understand the characteristics of the club. They even applauded their side off after Birmingham beat them 6-0 at The Den - well those that stayed anyway. They finished with nine men but they still did not give up.
They operate on a shoe-string compared to a lot of sides in that division.
They aren't Osborne fans (yet).

Dickson is available, but we chose this bloke!
During the first half he let the Yeovil winger past him, then stopped & waved his hands about a bit instead of challenging him.
I immediately thought "Uh-oh this blokes clueless", the rest is history...
Ah that'll be a case of Chronic Recurring PlayOff Failure for which there is no known cure.

Not going to consign him to the scrap heap on the basis of one game I've seen (some said he was alright at Bury) but he had a stinker last night. Tony Craig set up an oppo goal and scored one for them and I would still say that Barron was worse.
Beesotted with Brentford...
Against Bury he wasn't exposed because he was further forward in the wing back position (plus Bury were crap)... against Yeovil he was exposed... hopefully this is due to a lack of fitness that Uwe mentioned and he will approve in the coming weeks.
DVT in the Ealing Road
Thought he was good going forward, quite Dicko like, but had some shaky moments defensively on the night.
I think he could be good but he is now a natural target for the boo boys so he will need to put some good performances quickly.
Nothing like Dickson, at all. Every time Barron tried to go forward he looked slow, ponderous and lacking in ideas. More often than not, this meant him losing the ball and being exposed out of position. Oh, I'm starting to agree with Lions who say he can't cross.
I'm still surprised that people say that he was good at Bury. He wasn't good, he wasn't bad - he was ok. I'm just praying that we didn't pay much in wages or fees to get him.
The only thing I would say is I never saw Dickson play without a winger in front of him and I'm not convinced he would get up and down the pitch in the way our formation needs to. Barron was very exposed at times and I'd worry for any player in that position. Should have had a holding midfielder stepping across and covering but that didn't happen very often. We were too gung-ho last night imo - you can't win games with only two defenders.
I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
thats why we need Kev to play as the holding midfielder not that wondering toumani

I share the same concerns. It may pay us to play 3 CBs in 3-5-2 formation rather than the diamond we currently employ. The problem with the latter is that it requires a lot off the ball movement which was clearly not evident in yesterday's game - with the only exception being Forshaw whose talent has no doubt been sharpened from an early age. Ditto Forrester.
Here's my two pennies worth Championship Manager stylee.
A possible line up vs Crewe could be:
Moore/Lee
Dean Legge Craig
Logan Forshaw Douglas/O'Connor Barron
Forrester
Hayes Donaldson/Farid
Subs: Douglas/O'Connor, Fredericks, Redwood, Moore/Lee, Donaldson/Farid, Saunders, Toumani
In this situation Legge's sole role here would be to welly anything that came his way either with his head or foot, or alternatively lay off to Dean or Craig who are a little bit more cultured and can play it down the wings or into Douglas or Forshaw - it also means Dean and Craig can double up behind Logan and Barron if either side is attacking. Both Dean and Craig will have licenced to carry the ball forward if need be, at which point Douglas or O'Connor drops back to cover. Forshaw acts as the lynchpin between defence and attack while Forrester is encouraged to be a nuisance. Both Barron and Logan can have more licence to bomb down the wings knowing Craig or Dean will be covering.
Re corners: For the life of me I still don't understand why we need 10 outfield players defending a corner each time. Someone of Logan's stature is ineffectual in those situations and they would do better if they were asked to stay up for any loose balls that may come their way.
Come on Mr Gorgeous !
Let's not beat about the bush - We all want Dickson, he is better than Barron, from what we know and have seen (so far)
However, Southampton don't want to give him away and we can't afford or justify a season long loan on Dickson's current wage or a portion there-of
Ergo Sum, Ipso Facto, we don't have the readies
CEO of Beesotted FC
We don't because we chose to spunk the budget on a couple of players. One poor, the other average, but both I imagine, very expensive. We should not be surprised by Barron's lack of ability. Just take a look at what the Wall fans have to say about him - you won't have to search too hard. I had similar read outs from the Wall fans at work. I've seen him play twice for us and last night he fitted the description of everything I've been told/read. You can jest all you like about Baines, but we could and should have done so much better than Barron.
Young, Free and Single!
As I said in another thread, I haven't seen him as I have been on my hols but I would caution against writing a player off on the strength of one bad game, especially when its his home debut. Sure, the Millwall fans dont seem too keen on him but his record in terms of number of appearances would seem to hold up pretty well. He has had 2 years in the Championship, I believe and featured in 20 games last season and 30 odd in 2010/11. If he really is as bad as all that then I am surprised that he kept his place. Mill wall didn't have a bad couple of seasons after all.
Just read a post from Brentford 1 whoever you are on the Millwall forum. He started a thread asking if they Want to swop regarding Barron and Craig for Osborne.Great support for our club mate glad a couple of their fans have put you in your place.
