I don't think it's a simple as picking a player who was good last year against one who has had a few poor games
Uwe said he wanted two players for every position and always said he was optimistic that Everton would let us have Jake back.

He now has Barron as well with Redwood on a Development contract but it did seem at one stage that once he'd released Woodman and Everton appeared to be stalling we might be struggling.
Guess he knew that while not ideal he had the option of Craig able to fill in there but no complaints from me as genuinely don't believe that a decent left back will win or lose us promotion.

Granted he wasn't particularly tested and didn't do anything to stand out either but coming off a terrible home debut it's gonna take him some time to get up to speed and settle in.

A huge ironic cheer when he came off, followed shortly after by some dick in New Road calling out "You're Shit Barron" as he sat in the dug out is hardly going to help matters. If anything it'll add to any possible lack of confidence and perhaps take him longer to get up to speed.
My opinion of Barron has already been voiced on here. However I, like most others around me in New Road, stood and applauded him off. I didn't hear the "ironic cheers" above the clapping or the mindless idiot you refer to. I am a bit pissed off with comments being levied at the New Road fans who make up 30% of the gate. I admit most of the complaining eminates from there but so too does much of the encouragement. A sight more I might add than comes from the opposite side which when I have sat in it seems lacking in atmosphere.
Barron has just arrived at the club and has yet to earn the support that the likes of Kevin deserve. Just wearing the shirt doesn't mean that automatically comes. The players that have been around a while and always seem to give their best deserve sympathy from the fans when they go through a rough patch. Bean was a prime example of this. Despite lacking in technique it was unusual to hear any bad comments directed his way. Barron, if Uwe continues with him, needs to get on with his job to the best of his ability. The respect will follow on from that.

No competition in my book, you always pick your strongest team so its Bidwell for me by miles. Just my opinion like...
It was just one of those things....

that's fair enough, but seeing as how Bidwell has not played this season, you'd be a bold manager to justify his selection on form or history.
If he starts, it's bad news for Barron, who will get the message he is 2nd choice

It's then up to Barron to take his chance as and when he gets it.

May I refer you to Richard Lee vs Ben Hamer
    Beesotted with Brentford...

Strange that you wouldn't regard his excellent form from last season as being part of his "history".

I've seen Bidwell play 25-30 times I would think and Barron about 3 and IMHO there is no comparison whatsoever in their respective abilities. That might be a shame for Barron but I suspect Uwe intends to mix it up a bit provided Barron doesn't do a "toys out of the pram" like Woodman reportedly did.
Not in the inner circle so can only give opinion not fact.

100 % Agree. Bidwell Head & Shoulders above Barron. Even if Bidwell had not signed I would have dropped him and played Craig there against Walsall.

Has to be Bidwell for me, the attacking option that we need.

Rosler's body language was fuming seconds before he took Barron off on Saturday(we were just talking among ourselves that Barron was not marking properly and was an accident waiting to happen) and seconds later we have to applaud Rosler in taking him off. He may be a good left back but he has not shown it yet in his two home games and suggest that he gets a run in the reserves until his confidence is back and Kernaghan (Defensive coach) works with him.

I love the spin of Rosler saying that they will split the role on a rotational basis- we will see! Fair play for Rosler moving very quickly although I hope that Bidwell has improved his defending which was weak at times last year (no replies needed from the Bidwell love club- thanks). However, he is great going forward and getting crosses in the box which Farid will love!

Agreed. Opportunity was missed at Walsall, might be a long time now before he gets a look in.

If he's good enough, his chance will come.

Look at it this way, he has a contract to get paid for something he loves doing when a month ago he was unemployed.

I am pretty sure Barron has played more than 25-30 times, at a higher level.
He wins on the history factor
I just worry that we are giving too much stock to last seasons fine form for Bidwell, when time and time again, players have returned for a 2nd spell and been not as we remembered.

Only one way to find out!

Has to start with Barron with Bidwell on bench as then can see if Barron can make steup without both destroying his confidence nor giving him a chance to get match fit. He will now have no better incentive as will know that Bidwell is ready to step into boots. At least then we have two strong left backs.

No way should he start with Barron on Saturday. I am not interested in boosting his confidence or seeing if he can step up. I am interested in having the best defence possible from the players available and IMO that means Bidwell or moving Craig there.

You seem to have misunderstood my post mate. Wasn't levelling anything against New Road or generalising it at all. I sit there myself.

When his number came up there was a loud cheer from New Road and Ealing Road. Possibly from Braemar as well but I couldn't hear across the pitch obviously. I mentioned where the idiot sat simply as that's where he was, seemingly from nearish the back behind the home dugout in New Road.

The main point I think we should all agree on is Barron has signed a two year deal and has so far not had anywhere near enough time to show his true worth and/or ability. Hopefully that will come in time though

Think this is horses for courses for Uwe.

When Bidwell joined last December, he played a good game then was out the next as Woodman came in and played a more defensive role until eventually Bidwell excelled and Woodman for the first time in his Bees career had competition for the shirt and came off second as Jake grew into Uwe's plans.

See this going the same way for the next month, Barron at Bury played mostly in their half, so if Uwe goes with 3 centre backs away from home, Barron will play. Jake solid to play home and away. Can see Uwe swapping and changing this over the next month. Barron to start at Walsal, Jake to start the following week at home to Colchester and then the squad game comes to the fore. Competition for places, just whats needed!

If Uwe sticks to the philosophy of bringing in the alternate player when the 'regular' player has a couple of poor games, then it is obvious that Bidwell should be played at Walsal. If he plays well, then he keeps Barron out until he, in turn, starts to underperform. Barron, by then, would have hopefully gained in fitness and have a better understanding of the LB roll in the diamond formation, and then has another chance to impress.
    Simples.

i think barron could be a good player for us, but hes going to have to up his game considerably to keep bidwell out. hes only got himself to blame if he is dropped on saturday.

Bidwell could play better with his laces tied together from what ive seen of Barron. Not impressed with the so called experienced championship defender so it`s Jake all the way for me.

Millwall fan says this of Barron:

Scott Barron - pony thinks he's a footballer - better off being a ballett dancer...
Every day I think of my Lauren.
