Thread: Team For Tranmere

    Team For Tranmere

Listening to UR's Bees Player interview last night he twice referred to "freshening things up" for next week's big match at Tranmere.

So for all the "Tinkerman moaners" I suspect you will have lots of ammunition to criticise him with although playing away to a rampant top team
scoring goals for fun makes it totally appropriate that we try and counter their strengths AS LONG as we also try and impose ours on
them - that is key to getting anything out of the game. if we just sit back we will get picked off.

I wonder what he means though.

Assuming they are fit Moore and Douglas will start and I do not think he was thinking about them as their absence would only be due to injury.

My guess is that he will be looking firstly address the following

    - terrible conversion rate of chances made

    - need for forwards and wide players especially to press and do their defensive work (remember Alexander playing as an auxiliary centre half at Sheff wed last season)

    - the need to stop Tranmere's attacking left back Babayoko (or whatever he is called) from surging forward where he was created (and scored) many of their goals so far this season

    - Countering Akpo Akpo's pace and strength

    - Ensuring that Robinson doesnt get a chance to make deep runs and get close to goal

    - Getting hold of Wallace their best creative player

I wonder what he will do and the key questions are:

    - What formation will he use and I suspect 4-5-1

    - Who will be upfront - I have a feeling that it won't be Clayton

    - Will he start Forester in an away game - maybe if he defends better

    - Will Fredericks get a start - perhaps in an effort to keep the left back occupied

Is this a game for Kevin O'Connor - could well be

I am sure I have got everything wrong but that's my thinking to date!

Having watched Tranmere's goals from yesterday all of them were due to awful defending. Crawley had a bad day.
I wouldn't change too much really from yesterday. Maybe bring in Kev in front of the defence but it is hard to say who would drop out of the team.

We should play to our strengths rather than worry too much about theirs. They are due a poor performance, and aren't as good as their position suggests.

I'd guess it would be somewhere along the lines of

    Moore

    Logan - Dean - Craig - Bidwell

    Douglas - Kev - Adeyemi

    Fredericks - Forrester

    Donaldson

Keep the same team as yesterday ( never change a winning team )..........Tranmere are nothing to be afraid of, if we go with a defensive mindset they will be all over us like a rash.
If we take the game to them with an attacking side we can come away with 3 points.

"Never change a winning team" is arguably the stupidest saying in football.

Correct, keep the same team, Crawley's defence was shocking yesterday, even with all our missed chances of late, we would have put a few past them, if we go attack minded Tranmere could be in for a shock, I think there will only be 1 goal in it, to us!!!

I wouldn't mind this sort of line up: being ready to defend but with a lot of pace to counter-attack

I think Uwe should concentrate on our game and play to the strengths of our talented players .Certainly not go all gay and defensive . Ronnie Moore has been made Manager of the Month ! Yay !

I think he'll go with the 5-3-2/3-5-2 he used at Bury

Because it is just picking a team based on the emotion of a win and simply accepts that because we won that everything is fine and no need to change and that if we pick the same team the results will take care of themselves. You should always be looking to improve, we won yesterday but that doesn't mean everything was fine and we should look at where we went wrong and where we can improve instead of simply saying "its fine we won".

Bearing in mind how unfit and immobile Hayes has looked so far, leaving him to play as the loan striker pressuring Tranmere's back 4 would be disastrous from an attacking perspective IMO.

As others have said, I'd like to see us be brave enough and confident enough in our own ability to win the game playing our way with a line-up not dissimilar to yesterday.

My reason for Hayes starting is that, he is a player who can bring others into the game and very good at holding up the ball and creating chances for others. With Forrester, Adeyemi and Fredricks able to get in the box and shoot it just give us different options to what we have now, whilst ensuring that their full backs don't roam too far forward. Just my opinion like But then what do I know

PS Put KOC in instead of Forshaw.

How about playing with two goalkeepers? Oh sorry, shouldn't joke.

I think Fredericks is worth a start, as he scared the **** out of Oldham's defence when he came on. Pity no-one was there for his crosses.

I agree that he's good at bringing others into the game and if we could get Forrester and Fredericks up in support it could work well. My worry would be more when we were under the cosh and Hayes became more isolated. I don't think he's currently fit enough to keep their defence occupied on his own to give us any sort of outball.
