Got a bit boring one has to say and in any event I had no problem with what he did that day.

I have to say that a lack of a regular goalscorer is going to cost us. I have to agree with JT( I think it is that has said it all along.) Clayton(love him to bits ) Is not good enough at putting the ball in the back of the net. I have read all these posts about Moore savimg us and we were lucky to take a point, what a load of bollox. We created enough chances to have easily won the game, but yet again we fail in front of goal. Clayton lack of goals does not help with him playing the channels. Time after time after time , the ball goes across the box and our striker that plays wide is not there to attemt a shot at goal. Fair play to Hartlepool for getting the draw which they did deserve. but again points have gone down the drain.
If my posts offend, then please do not read them. they should not be taken seriously.

We switched to the diamond when Adeyemi came on. We have never looked solid using the diamond, obviously its hard to blame the formation when you concede a own goal from a corner, but was the diamond needed in the first instance or did it just make it that bit easier for Hartlepool to inevitably throw bodies forward?

Just watched the highlights and Clayton really should have scored from Forshaw's lovely pass near the end. He had to stretch a bit on the near post but it wasn't a really difficult chance that he blazed over yet again.

It wasn't the 'diamond'. We played 4-4-1-1 (4-5-1) with Forshaw & then Adeyemi in the attack midfield roll. Donaldson played right midfield. We didn't change out style in the second half.

I think we went to a 4-5-1/4-3-3 late in the first half, with Forshaw picking up their central midfielder (Walton, 8) who was pulling the strings for them; Adeyemi came on and picked him up later.

Sign a quick off the mark fox in the box striker to finish off the loose ends and we'll be play offs at least.
Stick with the three (good but similar) strikers we have and we'll me mid table.
That's the frustration for me.... That we are so so close forthe first time in a long time to getting it right, but so far away with points going needlessly begging week in, week out.

    Spot on Jim.
I posted a couple of weeks ago, play the same way and get a goalscorer we go up, don't and we won't.

No disrespect to Spencer who does look promising, it does make you wonder why we signed him as opposed to the type of striker you describe

I've been posting this since last season! The problem is that I can't find a list of quick young strikers who can finish available for loan to League 1 on the PFA web site.

Thanks Jim for summing it up so well. If you criticise Uwe you get called disloyal or 'not a true supporter', but it's painfully obvious what the problem is: get a 'Steve Phillips' and a decent winger in and this could be a great season, stick with what we've got and it will be mid-table mediocrity. Two signings away...

Maybe we have that winger already in Donaldson or Dallas? The 'Steve Phillips type' striker as Jlove says might be harder to come by

he doesn't play wingers so what are you talking about.

if he did play wingers dallas would be in by now. don't know why we signed him tbh given the diamond malarky

Forrester hugged the left touch line the whole game. Makes him a winger in my eyes.

Immediately after Adeyemi came we lined up as follows:

    Moore
    Logan Legge Craig Bidwell
    Douglas
Dave Forrester (both narrower than Forrester and Forshaw had been prior)
    Adeyemi
    Donaldson Spencer

If that changed shortly after, as you suggest, then i didnt notice but either formation isnt the point. The point is why did we change the formation from a flat 4-4-2? The 4-4-2 was working, and for 15-20 mins before the change Hartlepool had been running out of ideas, they certainly didnt look like scoring (compared to the first half) but very soon after Ademeyi came on and the tinkering started, they forced a corner and the rest is history.

Whatever. Donaldson played wide right throughout the second half. Hayes and then Spencer was the lone striker. Forshaw, as I said, came central from the start, Adeyemi came on and did the same, to put pressure on the no.20 as he was running the show in the first half. Games finished. I'm not bothered......

Forshaw was moved into the centre about 5 minutes before half time

They've sent back Ryan Noble!! He must have had a very out of the ordinary day against us as he ranks as the best oppo player I've seen this season.
Far too old for a mid-life crsis

Forgotten about him, he was the strawberry blonde, shirty loanee from Sunderland (?) who played left wing and gave Shaleum a really tough time?
