Interesting Montague is selected on the bench. He must have signed some sort of registration to be eligible to play.

Do trialists also need to be registered?

Agree - a great prospect - but he does needs beefing up, he was too easily physically knocked off the ball (but although a defender, still our best attacker on the day).

Looked a blatant dive to me. Either that, or the bloke's reactions are very slow.

I thought we did OK, and deserved a goal for our efforts. The first goal came from a superb cross-field pass out to their right winger, who put in a good cross. We should have cleared it, and after taking a couple of deflections they smashed it home. It was a sloppy goal to concede. The second goal came from a penalty, but it looked like a clear dive as the player went by Bull and I'm surprised the referee gave it.

Nikki Bull - Made a couple of excellent saves. Could not do anything about the first goal, but dived very early for the penalty so the player simply put it the other way.

Fraser Franks - Did extremely well at right-back, bombing up and down the line, and set up a couple of good chances.

Karleigh Osborne & Leon Legge - Very solid performances, won everything in the air and dealt well when Aldershot went forward.

Lewis Ferrell - Struggled in the first-half, but he was playing out of position (Ryan Blake injured) and rarely used his left foot. Grew in confidence in the second half and did better.

Cleveland Taylor - Generally good performance and got a number of crosses in.

Marcus Bean - Did what he usually does, but wasn't at 100%.

James McCluskey - Broke up play often in midfield, and was ambitious with his passing, with good and bad effects.

James Dayton - Our best attacking threat from midfield in the first half, showing pace and two good feet.

Marvin Williams - Poor in the first half upfront, but moved out to the left wing after Dayton went off and did better.

Steve Kabba - Should have buried one of his chances, but held the ball up well and was always a threat to Aldershot. Had a goal ruled out for offside when it seemed to come off an Aldershot player.

Subs:

Ross Montague - Very impressed with his performance, especially with his injury problems over the last 18 months. Won all his headers and linked the midfield well.

Charlie Allen - Lots of energy, but not much came off for him.

Geoff Banks-Smith - not enough time.
