    F A Cup changes for 2012/2013 season

Apparently the F A has decided to make some changes to the F A Cup in 2012/2013 season. One major change is kick off time. They want to change it to 1730. Other changes include seeding of clubs and no replays. I couldn't find a reference on the FA website but found this link on goal.com :http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2900/...-over-proposed
    Any comments?

    keep it how it is.
The only thing wrong with it atm, did you see the attendance last night at the DW stadium, 7500 what a joke!
I guess there were a few away support not being that far, so maybe only 4000 home support?

i heard a rumour about the winners getting a place in the Champions League. What a joke that is!
Then im sure the DW stadium would have been packed last night.
I dont give a toss bout the Champions League as far as Brentford are concerned, the opp to get that one draw in the third round we all want and to even reach the 1/4 Round is something amazing that doesnt come around often for teams outside the premiership.
Kick off times are fine.No need to mess about with that.
Replays are what the cup is about, in a certain money bonus for lower league clubs!

I quite fancy few 5.30pm Saturday matches. Better atmosphere too. And more away fans probably.

Is it right there are prem matches the same day as the final this year??

yes there are prem games on cup final day.i would play extra time if all square after 90 minutes to see if you can avoid a replay.if they seed the competition,at what point do they do it.its not all about prem clubs its all about qualifying rounds too.do we seed them? if they seed it it tantamounts to fiddling the draw and thats not right

Not to the 9,000 crawley going to Old Trafford on saturday.Give Man City there due £17.00 a ticket for sunday.Orient a sell out.Premier clubs dont give a fick about F.A Cup no more and they make it known thats whats wrong with it now so why waste money like at Wigan when survival is more important

Until the Quater-Finals, nobody really cares unless you are a lower league side in the third round, or a non-league side in the 1st round proper.

    Love the competition.

Think they should change the rules if the bigger clubs (who still play less games than us!?) want to play less games... If the two clubs drawn together agree that it's a one off game then so be it. Can't see too much wrong with that...

    But then again ESPN might...

    5.30pm kick offs? Why? TV?
The FA are losing the plot with this, Olympic Stadium etc.
If the big clubs don't like it then **** them. The cup is for everyone, and an inherent part of our football history.

I don't think the 17.30 kick-off was down to the clubs. That was TV wanting a bigger audience.

I would have thought it slightly more of a hassle for fans travelling any distance. If it goes to extra time and pens, then it will be 20.30 by the time there is the presentation of the cup and medals which could be hard for anyone travelling from the North.... though if it's like this season, all the NE clubs will get knocked out early to avoid the hassle.

Happy with seeding for the 3rd round - not to protect the 'big boys' but to give the smaller clubs a better chance of a money-spinning tie.

I'd like to see replays kept but mid-season internationals and Champ Lge make it hard - there are 4th rnd replays alongside 5th round this weekend, which normally only happens when there have been postponements

The way I read it was that the final would be a 17.30 kick off.

As far as I can work out the final is on a Saturday with Premiershite games because of the

1 The date of the CL at Wembley
2 The premiershite insists that it is elite and therefore cannot possibly have the same start date as FL

Add in all the pointless international friendlies that necessitate blank weekends there aren't enough Saturdays left as the prima donnas can't possibly play mid weeks as well

The FA cup is the most democratic trophy in english football, literally anyone has a chance of winning it.

If we have a seeded draw, this basically means that the Premier teams have an easy ride through the whole competition.

Who was crying out for these changes anyway? Does anyone have a problem with the cup the way it is? Why change a competition that everyone loves the way it is.

Well, they've just about screwed everything else up in football, so why not screw the FA Cup up as well.

The FA don't want two of their big teams drawn against each other in the third round like Liverpool - Man Utd this season. Tough shit. Keep it as it is.

The greedy ****s at the FA shat on the FA cup when they ****ed up the league in 1992.

    Or something like that.

What makes you say this? In my mind the only two teams that should qualify for the champions league are the domestic title winners and the domestic cup winners. If this was the case a lot more importance would be placed on the FA cup and it might "bring it back to its former glory".

Nothing wrong with kicking of 3pm. A 5.30pm ko will knacker evenings out.

Seeding 'top' teams is criminal and panders to the likes of Man U and Arse. Half the joy of the FA Cup is getting a small club getting a big club. Giant killing is part of the FA Cup and they want to take that away. Look at Crawley getting to Old Trafford and Orient getting a replay at teh Emirites.

Perhaps the reason that gates are down in cup games could have something to do with the current economic climate and prices going up. Fans will pick and choose what games they go to rather than go regardless.

We have also had some pretty bad weather which has caused a fixture build up, coupled with alot of people being skint, is it any wonder gates are down.

make the premier league teams play in the qualifying and preliminary rounds and let the non league teams come in in round 3. that would be a lot fairer and would boost attendances of the preliminary and qualifying rounds.

    Really?
But I bet if the winners got a palce in the CL then the premiershite teams would sell out!
Thats where the problem lies, not lower league teams, we all love the FA Cup!
