I'm not saying he wasn't good, I'm saying he was dodgy on a fair few occasions. Both of CDs goals could have been avoided if he a) positioned himself much better for the first, and b) didn't come out for the 2nd and let the defender deal with it.
He did keep them in it but on the flip side he did have a few hair raising moments.
Ive never lost the believe in him no matter how many chances he misses as he puts himself there to be shot and today the second goal was fantastic, showed lightning speed not once but twice.
Even the offside chance that the keeper saved was unlucky as the main thing is get the shot on target and thats what he did and now that Farids crocked its a good chance to cement his partnership with Hayes
I gave up on him last season but was as happy as anyone with his goals and performance yesterday and really hope Hayes can be the player to bring out the best in him.The second half chance that was offside l was right behind and he hit the shot straight at the keeper and could have done better. The first half he was unlucky not to get 3,down to bad luck and good goal keeping. If we play him as a loan striker next week we will be back to square 1.
The big difference, to my eyes, was that Donaldson stood much of the time between the CB and FB waiting to make a run and that Hayes and the midfielders fed the ball into the space for him to run onto. That had got to be team coaching and organisation, to get the best out of him. He drifted away on occasion and Hayes and Uwe, and even Douglas once, bawled him out with a lot of finger-pointing. It won't work if the opposition defence play very deep but it makes the very best of his ability, having intelligent players around him and sticking to a game plan.

Yes, but if he hadn't dashed from goal he'd have found himself in a one-on-one situation with Clayton and... erm, er yes, well...
Credit to CD for spreading such alarm and confusion among defences. Plus, he put the ball in the bloody net. Isn't that what people keep giving him a bollocking about?
Clayton is one goal away from being the leading scorer in League One. Somebody posted yesterday that he's one of the best strikers in the league............ 100% agree
Football is not a matter of life or death, it's more important than that.

Donaldson did well yesterday and I'm pleased for him.
This will help his confidence.
Yes and I wonder how long it will take some idiots to start referring to him as Donald Duck again. Malcolm McDonald always said to his critics that he was always prepared to be in a positionto miss a few, because that mean't he would also score a few. If CD keeps up his current scoring record then he will be on course for 25 goals plus this season. Not bad for a so called duck.
Notice that one of Clayton's (& Uwe's) biggest detractors hasn't been seen around here today. He's probably out spending his winnings from his bet on Crawley beating us. Or maybe doing the rounds touting Charlie MacDonald around to a club that needs his 'class'.
Very easy to use a very small number of posts( how many have posted Donald Duck) to smother a lot of constructive posters who have been critical of Clayton.l want Brentford to be successfull first and if 25 goals gets us promoted brilliant lets get there first before you start crowing.
This comment is absolute garbage. Ifs and buts... If a keeper positioned himself better much better every time then there'd never be any goals. Seems easy when in hindsight.
Clayton worked his socks off yesterday and his turn of pace was immense at times.
Can't people just see the positives and praise him on his brace instead of trying to find faults with every player.
Back on the pop.

What a dilemma this young man is, highly skilful and a real handful for defenders, a pain in front of goal and highly frustrating but I would rather he played for us than against !!!!
He's turned into a Weston in my opinion; occasionally unplayable but more often like a spot on a girl's nose... you know you shouldn't look but you keep being drawn to it. Unfortunately, we don't have options at the moment. Last Saturday showed that he can do it, playing off the last defender; this Saturday he's being shouted at by team-mates for not running onto passes.
When the wind of change blows some build walls, others build windmills...
He's joint 4th top goalscorer in League One... If he was released tomorrow he would be snapped up by one of our main rivals. If we're looking for blame we might start by querying why he's our only goal threat. Some of the other members of the squad need to step up their scoring game.
I cannot understand the venom directed by a vocal minority towards Donaldson. If some Brentford fans had their way we would get rid of our only goal scoring threat. Let's cut the abuse - it's unnecessary.
p.s not directing this towards anyone on this board - just the odd big mouth on match days!

When you've had to endure Murray Jones, it is hard to get too wound up about Donaldson.
