I highly doubt we'd buy Bidwell but if we did it'd be an amazing signing.

Never in the history of mankind has one clubs destiny been due to be decided by the signing of a left back . This is the last left back in civilisation , all the others are no more or have been signed by Preston
Hypnotise the lot of 'em !

Although Bidwell is of different class, we all thought the same about Dickson, did we not?

And whilst everyone is panicking, lets remember bidwell joined us last year without completing preseason with us and that didn't seem to do him any harm, why would joining us now when he already knows the players and the club be such a catastrophe.

Anyway, plenty of time and plenty of players out there.

Quite, he's good but he's not superman!
Currently he is out of contract and it seems Everton are dithering which is not that positive from his point of view.Mind you others will be interested in him.

Technically yes,but obviously he hopes to get his contract renewed. If not we could be in for a bidding war with other clubs.

Checking the recent census results it does indeed state there are now only around 27 native left backs left in this country down from 157 in 2002.

If he's out of contract - wouldn't he be a free agent? Where's the bidding war?

no as he is under 24.
If someone came in for him, then in theory that would mean that Everton would have to offer something to be able to get compensation and as a Premier League team and him being an England U19 international could probably command a small 7 figure sum. If we tested Evertons resolve with offering Jake a contract, then that may well piss Everton off and they won't trust us again. The other option for Everton is to naturally release him and they get nothing. The only thing that is worrying really for Jake is surely, now, he doesn't get paid unless he is now on a month by month contract with Everton who still holds his registration.

To offer the best contract to attract him? Maybe no other clubs are interested though.

Attacking-wise he was terrific, but it's impossible to tell from that game whether the defensive side of his game is up to League One level. Certainly hope so though!
