Jake Bidwell - a young full back - hasn't quite made the grade at Everton
Had an OK start at BFC, then got stronger and better at the end of the season (when the pressure was off)
He's a nice lad with lots of family based in the North
    He's a left back
He can pass and run past players that are slow
    He can tackle
Like a lot of loanees he's impressed whilst on loan - will he be so impressive on a more comfortable 2 year contract ?

If we don't get him, there are other players just as capable whom we have not yet seen !
We are in League One and I would say a striker is still top priority, in terms of financial outlay than any thought of big compo for Everton for Bidders !

Thanks for stating the bleeding obvious, you burger grilling maniac

Regardless of how good other left backs in the league maybe, Bidwell could easily fit into a promotion winning side and even though he had some awareness issues, I wouldn't have traded him for anyone last season, he had it all as a left back and a diamond formation will suit him down to the ground.

Probably why they've kept us waiting in order for them
to arrange adequate cover before allowing him to move anywhere.

I'm unconcerned about this as I don't believe Bidwell will break through into the Premier League. This is because he just isn't quick enough for that level IMO. Otherwise he is a fine footballer and I can see him playing at Championship level [ maybe us]. I note he hasn't been offered a long term deal by Everton and I think that's indicative of their thinking.

I think you are spot on with his speed issues. IMHO Everton have offered him a one year extension which gives them a further look one year down the line and see if he improves. Hopeful that they will loan him out ( to us ) for the season at a good level to test this. If they let him go at the end of this period and he's been with us and his good mate Forshaw. I honestly feel we are ahead of the game in signing him on a perm deal. Although if my head rules my heart I feel Championship for us next season for us maybe one season too soon in reality we are still not there completely, but making the right moves.

Could see us still getting him on loan with us paying the bulk of his wages, providing he isn't on silly money something l am sure Everton don't do.

Premier League youth/development players are generally on quite low wages (compared to first teamers) believe it or not, in a lot of cases lower than your average league 1 player. Everton are generally quite wise when paying wages so I would be amazed if they offered Bidwell, essentially a third/fourth choice left back with little chance of playing in the Prem, much more (probably less) than someone like Legge was on.

I never thought M.Turner was quick enough for the Premier League but he has done O.K.

I don't think he is on much at all, at the moment Bill, very affordable for us.

I always thought he was quick enough for a CB.It's a different kettle of fish down the flanks isn't it? I like Bidwell as he's a fine footballer IMO.

Bidwell deal I fear is going the way of the mighty Clarke-Rhodes-Bowditch triumvirate disappointment. A summer spent wondering and then- poof- they were gone.......
Kevin O'Connor- substitute for a season and a half. A SEASON AND A HALF.

If we miss out on Bidwell I would rather we try out another prem youngster (could even be better than bidwell!) on loan rather than sign a sub-standard guy on a permanent.

If we settle for second best, we may as well have kept Woodman!
