2 yrs to run. We would have renewed mid season if other examples are a guide
Agreed. Contact ends in 2028 with no option. Based on how we do business (ie the recent new contracts for KA, Igor and Vitaly), if we were going to offer a new contract (which I assume we would) this would have been done by now.

If there is no news of a new contract by season end, a sale is inevitable as we aren’t going to let Schade head towards 1 year left on his contract.

I think this is correct.

He has played his part, no doubt and we probably will get our money back on him.

Some glimpses of what might have been, but for me, I don't think he has reached the heights that it was expected he might. Previous injuries aside, I think this has been a disappointing season for him overall.

(Cue scoring against Citeh now!)

I believe it has been done and he's not signing it. So one more chance to see him at the Gtech.

He would’ve signed an extended contract by now if he was going to. For sure it will have been offered repeatedly. I’m 99% certain he has agreed to leave in the summer for a top German team: think Bayern or Dortmund…possibly Leverkusen. Over the years we’ve had a few players in August who we know are going to leave before the end of the window and they’ve just not been able to replicate their form of previous years once their head is elsewhere. My guess is that exactly the same thing is happening with Kevin. I’ll be amazed if he pulls on a Bees shirt again after the last game of the season. It wouldn’t surprise me if we end up in a situation like we did with Bryan last summer where he’s wanted by a club, he wants to go but there are a painful few weeks until Phil‘s valuation is met.

I tend to agree that he's as good as gone. We won't just sit there and let his resale value diminish into next season. We might have a problem if he specifically wants a return home though. I'm sure we'll be looking for £40-50m for him and, Bayern aside, Bundesliga clubs just don't have that kind of money (or if they do, they don't splash it all in one transfer fee). Even Dortmund and Leverkusen have never paid much above £30m.

…and that is exactly why I worry this could become a protracted saga where he will end up choosing between playing ball and throwing himself into pre season à la Bryan or following the example of he who cannot be mentioned

I think we would be looking to sign a player in his position regardless so maybe wouldn't matter so much this close season.

Kevin Schade

I wouldn't be concerned at all to lose him. Anything above £35m would be good business but wouldn't put it past PG to get a lot more.

Ah man, what could've been! Luckily we will get a hefty fee and make a profit on him.

I wouldn't be gutted to lose him at the right price. He's the only regular starter who has been consistently under-performing on his potential recently. As KLP is looking increasingly likely to stay as a FB next season I think you could argue that we need two left-sided forwards for next season.

As far as I am concerned there is no way KLP will remain in the LB position long term and his future is as WB.
Too many people have written KS off but as I see it KA is not one of those people and I personally would be very surprised if he left this summer

Kevin Schade

A real shame this one. Every season I have a decent bet on a Brentford striker E/W to be top PL goalscorer and plumped for Kev over Igor this year, thinking this would be Kev’s breakout year. Guess his potential wasn’t meant to be 💯% fulfilled at BFC, but can see him absolutely tearing it up somewhere one season.

We allegedly paid £22mn for him, so there’s a tidy profit to come once Phil works his magic. Hopefully Kev gets named in the Germany WC squad to help the bidding 💶

Kevin Schade

I agree with those who highlight his work off the ball. Whilst I’ve questioned his output on the call at times, tactically he does play an important role.

It is hard to recognise the player who scored that spectacular long ranger v Palace almost three years back.

A few posts saying Dams should’ve put him through, perhaps there’s a reason he didn’t.

The best I can say is he’s low on confidence. Worst is he’s a player who knows his position in the XII is safe

Kevin Schade

Because he still takes players away from the spaces that KLP can get into.
If KLP played LW like some are clamouring for, you wouldnt see 50% of his current attacking output - Schade is a proper team player, maybe he is in an attacking funk, but he is still working his balls off for the team and his teammates.
Even if a lot of our fans dont respect him and his abilities, opposition coaches and players definitely do

I'm with Chris Wilder on hard work: it's the absolutely effing least you should expect from a professional player! I get the tactical point and agree that has been a plus recently.

But over our time with us Kevin has simply not delivered decent performances regularly enough to currently be worth a starting place. I have absolutely nothing against him as an individual: he seems honest and unassuming. However, I can't say I am unhappy it looks as though he will move on.

Kevin Schade

Watching two players in Ndiaye and Doku tonight perhaps highlights what were missing from him.
I think Dango and KLP for the first two goals on Saturday showed what I think we miss from him. When he gets the ball near the byeline you don't ever feel he's going to make a chance happen.

He's a centre forward who has had his development into one blocked by some very good centre forwards.

Kevin Schade

I get his importance to the team in the hard work of tracking back and, having watched him more closely in recent weeks, in moving into the box when KLP has the ball, freeing up space for him and providing another target in the box. However, he hasn’t really got on the end of anything when he gets in there and has a few times almost been standing on igor’s toes as he seems to want to occupy the same position as igor for crosses.
He should be varying things and cutting across the near post or holding back for a pull back. I can’t remember the last chance he had (a header against Everton or Fulham?).
To keep working as hard as he does with no real output though must be frustrating for him, so credit for keeping going and being a team player. That attitude, despite the body language suggesting otherwise, really can’t be criticised

Kevin Schade

If he wants to go, IMO i will not be overly disappointed.

Yes his hard work rate in defensive situations is needed and he's an outlet with his pace.................. But i just don't see enough consistently to be that bothered.

I struggle to see where these "top clubs" are coming from.

I was gutted to see the rumors of Bryan, Toney and Wissa leaving, the fact that my overriding feeling is meh sums it up for me.

Honestly think we need a more consistent outlet on that wing.

Kevin Schade

Would love to see him sign a new deal but resigned to him going and not sure we will get a great price esp if he goes to Germany as don't think they spend loads unless it's Bayern

If they don't cough up he won't be going.... End of story
You not heard of PG??

Kevin Schade

It's already been mentioned that he's been offered a new contract but hasn't signed it so it's not quite as easy a negotiation as you suggest.
Agree as Schade knows he's down to the last two years and we realistically need to sell him now. We got lucky with the wissa transfer but got less than we deserved from Toney and Raya .

Kevin Schade

I’m hoping with the whole world watching this sat night that he will put a performance in if not for us but for himself…he’s in the shop window and needs to prove he’s worth the attention 😉 he defo owes us one 👍

Kevin Schade

I wonder of Bournemouth who he scored a hattrick against and need to replenish might bite?

Kevin Schade

I’ve been one of Kev’s biggest advocates on here. I still think he’s an asset to the team and has much more to give. But, recent performances do appear to be a bit “on the beach”.

As for all this “he never smiles” stuff…. Yoanne Wissa was always smiling and laughing. Look how that turned out.

His second hat-trick for us on Sat. would do. Instant hero and a contract extension.

Kevin Schade

I’d like him to stay, as I think there is a complete forward inside Kev. I recognise progress this season hasn’t been what we may have hoped, but I still think he has a far higher ceiling and fingers crossed he does extend.

Clearly if he’s set on letting his contract wind down, then the hierarchy will do what must be done, but I’d be happy if he stayed.

Kevin Schade

Perhaps as both his strike partners from last year, Bryan and Snake, moved on he feels he needs to do the same. Perhaps his agent is pushing him in this direction. Who knows? I'd be sorry to see him go.

Lots of what ifs and maybes being said on here, but like I said previously KA appears to be happy with what he is contributing on the pitch otherwise I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be starting every game and with that in mind it makes me fairly confident the club will be doing all they can to make sure he stays
