When was the last time a kid from under 18’s made the first team? Ryan Peters??

I remember Manny Oyeleke lasted 45 minutes under Rosler

Jake Reeves and Luke Norris also made appearances during the 2011-12 season (ie. same as Oyeleke). Since then, I don't think an U18 has received even so much as a first team squad number.

Felt like a decent move, mid-season, to gee up the Bs and academy, to show it can be done. Off the top of my head, there's been no B team inclusions in the first team matchday squad so far this season.

Being in a first team PL match day will make him feel 10 feet tall and does all Sam Saunders messages to his squad ‘look at what happens if you work hard and train hard and play well’ people are watching.

Pathway for the B Team, he was not expecting to be in the B's this season as he is from the under 18's! By the looks of it we have got some player here. Certainly the others should look to emulate.

Not just the B team, but the academy in general. Luka initially joined us as a scholar, came through with the Under 18s and was playing for the Cre8tive Football Academy just 2 years ago. Proof to young players that the academy isn’t just there to suit PL / UEFA rules, and that there is genuine ambition to make it a good one capable of producing some good footballers.

Though he's now on a professional contract, I make his debut the first senior appearance of an U18 since Luke Norris in April 2012.

He replaced Donovan on the right wing. He was only on for a couple of minutes, but the ball actually ended up on that side of the pitch, so he got a couple of touches and put himself about well. He looks quite strong and athletic, not like a Young-Coombes fish out of water.

Aside from the overloud soundtrack, Luca comes across as a confident, respectful young man and typifies our approach to signing young players with talent both on and off the pitch.

Having seen him play a few times he has a presence on the pitch and looks very adept.

Be interesting to see what happens to rhis kid next. Made the bench a few times but, with players coming back and some potential reinforcements, does he stay and maybe get some cup minutes? Go out on loan?

Still very young. I think he was still a scholar last season but stepped up a level. I imagine we'll want to keep him close to the coaches for at least the first half of this season where he should be one of the first names on the sheet for the B/U21 team. PL2 matches, EFL Trophy and maybe even the League cup await. He can go out on loan in January or next summer if that's the trajectory we see for hin.
