I wonder how Cloughie would deal with this...Oi Sabine, go and put the kettle on luv...Malek, be a good lad and f*** off so you dont ruin your younger brothers career...Now Said, where were we, oh yes, sign here lad!

Said El Mala (Fwd, FC Köln, 19)

Yes, I'm aware, but interested to see what great idea they were floating 😂
It seemingly wouldn’t be allowed but I thought he could train with us as a member of the public and live off his brother’s (inflated accordingly ) wages.

Said El Mala (Fwd, FC Köln, 19)

Well we pay his brother but still the issue of him being resident here
Why though? He either wants to play for Brentford or not. Yes they could accommodate bringing his family here but not offering charity for his brother which as far we can see is an untalented footballer. After we pay his brother he’ll want to be a starter in the B team then God forbid a substitute on the main bench. Otherwise Said will not play, not be in form, throw his toys out of the pram etc

This attached strings don’t make up for a classic Brentford signing that fits right into the team as per Keith’s description in the podcast

It’s turning more into a Poundland Kardashians show even worse they might turn Brentford team spirit into that

Classic GPG!

Part 1 - pages of what a brilliant player/guy/talent he is. Just what we need, etc, etc.

Part 2 - announcement that he's not coming due to family and us supposedly not accommodating his brother.

Part 3 - pages of what a ****, d*ckhead, don't want players like him at Brentford, lucky escape for us, didn't need him anyway, etc, etc.

If he signs, then revert to part 1, etc.

Said El Mala (Fwd, FC Köln, 19)

I wonder if his reluctance to be open to a move factored into the clubs decision to put a time lines on the negotiations?
Could they have sensed that and didn't want it to drag on?

Phil does this every day, it’s his 9-5. I am sure he would do whatever he could and be as flexible as he can if he felt it was worth it

I think it's standard with all our approaches, we don't like getting sucked into bidding wars.

Said El Mala (Fwd, FC Köln, 19)

I'm surprised a German national can't live in London for 3/6 months, leave for a day or so and then come back 🤷

He is a pro footballer who wants to carry on being paid. Not just just pop to London to visit every now and then.

I don't get excited about any transfer rumour anymore because I expect the process is Brentford bid > agent tells the club/player they can do better > touts around privately and in the media > others usually bid before we can get them to sign on the dotted line.
So waiting for reliable signs of deal-done before any hint of excitement from me.
Serving me well yet again it seems.
No chewed biro no excitement.

Perhaps if the family had done their research they would have discovered that a few years ago we had the Lisbie twins on trial for the B team and only one of them ended up getting a contract; a decision made for the benefit of the club, not the family. It sounds ruthless, but it was the decision made at the time. Both were decent players and are both having careers in professional football.

It was mentioned that we had given Köln and the player a deadline so although it does seem like an opportunity missed it’s still very early in the offseason and PG can continue with his other prospects and see how we end up.
To be fair, as ridiculous as this thing with his brother is, I hardly blame for the family for having no knowledge of the Lisbie brothers 🤣.

I imagine some players and their families may do a deep dive from interested clubs whereas others will just see - right where are they in the Prem, how much am I being paid. That’s it

This bloke, and his brother (and maybe their cousins....and Aunt.....) looks like just the type of signing Forest (well, Marinakis) could well somehow engineer......

Reading reports now that a 50 million Euros deal has been agreed between the 2 clubs and terms agreed with the player only needing his mother's approval before it goes through

Always wondered if the Ouattara that appeared this year in a few academy/B team games was related to Dango - I definitely saw some funny posts on Twitter/X of people confused and complaining about spending 40+ million and putting the lad to play there. I guess this may not be the first family affair after all?

No relation

Now in this phase, either players want to come here and grow or dont, personally not too disappointed but its not unexpected. Will probably end up at Chelsea or Spurs, will get more money but wont play.

Should've posted this before and saved Phil the hassle
Bonkers isn't it - people think we just randomly put bids in not knowing if there is any chance of the deal happening to 😅

As I said earlier - El Malas. are dickheads. Phew. No hat eating.

I was thinking exactly the same thing when I saw all the negative comments 😩

Indeed.
People think scrolling the GPG and Twitter mean we know exactly what is going on, it also apparently makes us experts on how transfers work and well placed to critique how the club do business.

As remarked, one poster knew about the "brother thing" potentially having stalled Brighton's bid weeks ago. It's impossible that this is new information to BFC.
We get the impression this deal was almost done at 3pm yesterday but was dead at 7pm. Of course it cannot be as simple as that. This must have been being discussed for a while and the public have just got a few snippets of info, some of yesterday's were directly contradicting one another ("it's almost done" vs "it's off")

On that basis a lot of reactions are a bit OTT. Our ITK says it's not dead yet, maybe it's a remote possibility but some humble pie will be served if we do get a deal over the line. Though woe betide this 19 year old if he's not as good as Messi on day 1 of course...

The Toney deal went on and on. He made the huge error of saying he wanted to play in the EPL and we had melt downs on here of fekk him, bertie big etc, we don't need him if he thinks he is too big for ius, failed the dick head etc etc.

When it was finally done, in his interview he said the first second he heard Brentford were interested it was a no brainer, he was on his way and he became possibly one of the most important signings in the last 100 years.

Any deal is so complicated nowadays but people jump on any piece of gossip.

To a certain degree I can understand the mothers concerns despite the practicalities the lad is only 19 and going to a new country I suspect she wanted him to have the support of his brother, I don't think she has thought about the practicalities of it.

I don't think she's thought about the practicalities of being an agent with zero experience either. Then again, most agents are blaggers TBF 😅

Brighton have known about the whole situation with his brother from their enquires during the winter transfer window, found this article from the times (subscription needed unfortunately)

The Times Brighton’s plan to win race for Said El Mala: sign his brother too Share this article ... Last year Said El Mala was playing in the German third tier for his local club, Viktoria Köln. Now the 19-year-old winger... . 23 Feb 2026

so true, cracks me up every time, utterly predictable.

Also the comments like "Oh well" when PG and others have probably been working on this for over a year . Must be soul destroying for them

Said El Mala (Fwd, FC Köln, 19)

Whole thing is and always was a non starter. He doesn't want to play for us. Full stop. Move on.

Explain please?

You think PG and team are new to all this and just chancing it, stab in the dark bid etc.

There will be planning and conversations all over the place including the players representatives even before a bid is made.

In fact........................ I dont know why im bothering to try and explain this.

Maybe but you can tell Phil is a very calm guy. I don't suppose he gets half as worked up about these things as some fans do.

Yesterday we had "worst day of my life" on here from someone who'd probably never heard of this guy a month ago :nono:

Said El Mala (Fwd, FC Köln, 19)

How could the brother meet the requirements to work here?
probably would have met the requirements if he had broke into the first team and played a fair amount of games. quite unlucky to have been out for most of the season with an injury considering he managed to get 5 goals in 14 matches for the B team last season.

Pretty sure he was joking!

The bro can go work at Mackie D and the other can sub him a plenty with his big wad?

Not sure I understand - can't see anything there that would help him qualify to work here.

I wasn't taking it totally literally either ... but it's insane hyperbole for a footballer none of us really know anything about.

Transfer drama somehow now seems to get people even more worked up than the actual games of football.
