It wouldn’t surprise me if he was being tracked by us from leaving Arsenal to join AFCB’s youth team and Lee Dykes has a massive data-set on him.

The player who I think I'm struggling with is Josh. If Carvalho, Milambo come back and we get these players in, I can't see how he's getting a game.

If just one of those three achieves a level of form and fitness that demands a starting place early in the new season id be very happy. If it were two I'd be ecstatic. The likelihood of all three getting there is sufficiently low (at least for the foreseeable) to not be worth worrying about!

I think we should be thinking about the more likely possibility that none of them are at the required level in the immediate future. However if you take a longer term view then yes we may find our cup overflowing. This makes it hard to know who to recruit in the meantime.

He developed in AFCB’s youth system but it seems they then started buying a lot of ‘ready made’ players, so he got loaned out: Weymouth at age 19, Leeds 23-24, Burnley, 24-25, then sold to Burnley on their promotion. So I guess AFCB’s recruitment meant he got by-passed there and became a Championship journeyman – I hope it sort-of means he’s grown up the hard way.

I think he was released by Arsenal age 16-17, then to AFCB’s U-21’s; I was trying to keep it brief!

I find the whole thing of a ‘missed out’ transfer rather pointless.

Ultimately you miss out on all the players you don’t sign. I understand Bobb’s price tag and traits may have maybe him one we’d be more likely to consider - but it’s not like seeing Harry Wilson go to Leeds makes me think ‘damn, we missed out there’.

We didn’t sign Oscar, but we did sign Igor, so everyone else missed out there….

I think there’s a difference between signing players from relegated sides who severely underperformed e.g. West Ham and signing them from sides whose lack of quality is far more apparent, Burnley.

Which is why scoring 8 for Burnley may actually be even better than it already is

It's probably better than scoring 8 goals in the same number of minutes for a team that finished above us - which is the sort of transfer that would get people very excited.

Totally agree. In my opinion we lacked quality on the wing last season and this player immediately improves our first team.

Yes this is what I was thinking. I'm not sure how people have decide he'll "just a bench option" - presumably because of the relatively modest fee reported, because he's the ripe old age of 26 and and because he only played for relegated Burnley?

I think he could start doing what Nelson was meant to be doing - even Benrahma and Mbeumo were bench options in the very early days - it may take a bit of time but could easily be thriving as the starting winger in 6+ months, if not sooner.
