Callum Wilson (Fwd, 34)
We want a better all round squad next season and here it is. He'll do nicely coming off the bench in certain matches.
We certainly need some quality deeper into the squad. It’s amazing that, in the last third of last season, many, many fans were complaining about the lack of depth, witnessed by a couple of games where the bench was all youngsters and making in-game substitutions would often degrade our performance on the pitch. We want a better all round squad next season and here it is. AgreeWe do really need a viable option to help manage Thiago's minutes.
If the powers that be are sweet on this then I am too.
Having Wilson for the last 8-10 games of last season would have likely helped.
Brighton continue to add experience to their development model, nothing is set in stone and shouldn’t be.We certainly need some quality deeper into the squad. If signing players like Wilson and Anthony, with Premier League experience, for what is now a modest amount of around £20M, while continuing the ‘Brentford Model’ of young players for development, often costing significantly more, gives the additional squad depth and reduces the pressure on those developing players with more role models in the squad, what’s the objection? It’s a touch of pragmatism.
Callum Wilson is not going to be replacing Thiago! If he did I might need to join the doom mongers.Agree
But is there another reason for us being linked with experience in the forward line? Is the Club expecting offers for our star CF as well as for our LW? With our reserve CF and our exciting relatively young wide man deemed not ready and possibly needing loans. Hence looking for PK experience.
Just a thought.
Thats where I am.If the powers that be are sweet on this then I am too.
....have you tasted the wine in RhodesYou come out with this crap every summer. Put the wine away.
Don't be a bedwetter please...so we're a journeyman club now....hmmm... doesn't inspire me with any great confidence for the season ahead.... survival before the season even starts... not for me.
No but I’ve seen your humble pie on here every May!....have you tasted the wine in Rhodes![]()
Transfermarkt says he was available for 57% of PL games in that period. My only slight concern is his injury record. A quick google search shows he was available for roughly 35% of the total games Newcastle played during his time there.
So whilst I disagree with those saying it’s uninspired, on the contrary, he knows where the goal is.
If Furo doesn’t go out on loan it’s less of an issue, but if he does I just hope we can avoid a season of bare bone squad selection (if not for all, at least the majority)
wasting your time mate , according to some he's " always injured "Transfermarkt says he was available for 57% of PL games in that period.
Of the 81 games unavailable over 5 years, 16 were a long term calf injury in 21/22
Though its already been said worth repeating he missed 0 games through injury in the season at West Ham.
That's because it suits their narrativewasting your time mate , according to some he's " always injured "
oi oi , Emma Hayes has swallowed her tictacs bookWilson and/or Anthony will raise our floor not necessarily raise our ceiling imo![]()
However it could be improved if we fit an en suite bathroomWilson and/or Anthony will raise our floor not necessarily raise our ceiling imo![]()
I quite like that phrase.Wilson and/or Anthony will raise our floor not necessarily raise our ceiling imo![]()

I guess if he is only coming on the last 10/15 minutes of games he is less likely to get injured.Transfermarkt says he was available for 57% of PL games in that period.

Evidently then, although I did say I’d be happy to have him, you’re still going to throw me in with the other lot. Just thought since I have a narrative, you might like one tooThat's because it suits their narrative![]()
You’re right, That’s a fair point regarding West Ham. And he did played around 30 games.Transfermarkt says he was available for 57% of PL games in that period.

... where Brentford and acquisitions are concerned...I love being proved wrong sweetheart..... Wilson and Anthony...let's see come May eh.No but I’ve seen your humble pie on here every May!
If we signed him that would have been me doneWrong fkin Wilson Phil! You let the good one go to Weeds!![]()
PG and MB aren’t that silly. Wilson had a good 3 month spell between November and February last season. By May even Fulham fans were calling for him to be dropped. Credit to his agent for convincing some that he’s the new Messi but I’d take a fit JDS any time.If we signed him that would have been me done
Our floor needed raising at times in the last twelve games of the season.Wilson and/or Anthony will raise our floor not necessarily raise our ceiling imo![]()
Never happen...If we signed him that would have been me done
And if that was a major issue in how we consider players we ought to have released Rico and JDS at the end of last season after having let JDS have his moments of fan love coming on as a sub. We’d also be looking to ship Hickey out. That’d free up three senior squad places and a decent whack of wages for at least one of them.wasting your time mate , according to some he's " always injured "
I thought WHU had agreed to release him? It's all very untidy in East London.Brentford have made a move for Callum Wilson...
My understanding is that he was a Free Agent? West Ham may want him to resign, but cannot see why previos post says anything different.I thought WHU had agreed to release him? It's all very untidy in East London.
Floor being raised apparently.Wilson and/or Anthony will raise our floor not necessarily raise our ceiling imo![]()
Also our ceiling is already high.Floor being raised apparently.
Surely TUG is too old?Wrong fkin Wilson Phil! You let the good one go to Weeds!![]()
Is that including Balcombe and Cox?So if we sign wilson and Anthony that will fill all 25 of our squad places.
So will we be getting rid of players or is that the end of our transfer business any idea?
Yea all players over 21,no idea why we need 5 goalies. Is that including Balcombe and Cox?
We don't need to name them in the 25, so there should be a bit more space. Possibly some to go out ((Ethan? Kevin?) too?Yea all players over 21,no idea why we need 5 goalies.
We haven’t even named the squad yet, it’ll be early September! There’s surely more comings and goings before then; it’s not worth discussing now, really. We don't need to name them in the 25, so there should be a bit more space. Possibly some to go out ((Ethan? Kevin?) too?
I’ve got a feeling Jensen,Kim,and one of the keepers will goEl Mala (for example) wouldn't have had to be named as he is under 21. We won't name 5 keepers (obv.), and you'd think Pinnock will go so I think (as is always the case) we can trust our recruitment team that they know what numbers we have to play with.
hasnt Jenson just signed an extention ?I’ve got a feeling Jensen,Kim,and one of the keepers will go
Leaving room for 2 central midfielders and a attacker.![]()
There used to be a song, hang up your boots Tom WilsonBrentford signed Tom “Tug” Wilson from Fulham in July 1957
The player you’re looking for is Tom Wilson, full name Thomas Frederick Wilson, born 1930. He played full‑back for Fulham from 1950–1957, then moved to Brentford in July 1957. ..... he wasn't very good by the way.![]()
that was Janelt. the one year option on Jensen was taken up.hasnt Jenson just signed an extention ?
